I'm Glad We Don't Play Purdue

I agree. Their defense is a little suspect, but if a few guys can step up and become solid contributors to take pressure off of Kerrigan, I could see them winning as many as 10 games (granted they would have to win EVERY winnable game on their schedule). But I think 8-9 is certainly a reasonable possibility for them this year. That offense could be downright frightening if Bolden comes back 100%.

Agree. Of the lower-tier B10 teams, they are the scariest.
It sure would be nice to see the Boilers roll fOSU again this season, but...I think it's highly unlikely to happen in the really big shoe.

In principle I agree ... however, they have to completely reload their secondary ... they have a lot of rebuilding to do on their OL ... and, on top of that, their experience at RB is suspect.

Lastly, while they have good LBs ... their D still isn't all that terribly staunch against the run.

What they have is a front 7 that can probably muster a decent pass rush and a passing game that should be able to light it up. Will that be enough to win a lot of games ... we'll see.

Were it not for the personnel issues ... I definitely think that Hope has the Boilermakers moving in the right direction. However, I really think that the personnel issues are a bit too much for them to overcome in 2010.

I guess what I am saying is I'd rather play Michigan, Northwestern, and Indiana than Purdue. Some might disagree, but I think Purdue is going to punch a couple people in the face this year.

Like Bucket ... Purdue pretty much always makes me nervous.

However, that said, I'd probably rather face them in 2010 than 2011. And, mind you, they'll be losing most of their top WRs after the 2010 season ... and they'll be losing Kerrigan and Werner too.

Not sure about their personnel this year, but Hope strikes me as a guy who will be a tough matchup for Iowa, just like Tiller. This is one reason I hope they get stuck in the East Division so we do not have to play them every year.

Me too. I was thinking last week how glad I am that we do not have to play them. That kind of O gives Iowa fits & they still run a similar version with Hope.

Robert Marve has a lot of physical skills but his head was just all over the place on and off the field
at Miami. If he can keep focused he can do some very good things at QB for Purdue.

They are one reason an east assignment would stink... one place in the conference that creates little to no excitment for a matchup. It has nothing to do with how good or bad they might be in a given year.

Purdue is scary the same reason Indiana and Michigan are scary. They basically have no defense, so they'll lose a lot of games, but every game will be a shoot out. If your offense has a bad game against them you could lose.

Confused - Not getting what you mean by "east assignment" ???.

When Iowa was coming along in the early 2000's, Iowa & Purdue had a couple nice games & there was something riding on the games for both. One or two games went into OT. One for sure. It's not the most exciting place to play but they did have it going under Tiller late 1990's & early 2000's & was relevant in the Big 10.
