No sellout Saturday ... 1,000 tickets short! :mad:

I did my part, in addition to my season tickets, I bought 4 extras this week.
 
I saw the announced attendance on the hawkeyetron but on the radio heading home Kirk and Dolph were talking about how it was a sellout. Im thinking they sold all the tickets but 1000 people decided to just get drunk instead.
 
I saw on the PSU board that they had announced attendance for the Eastern Michigan tilt his past weekend of 95k,but the butts in the seats were actually at 70k...less than Iowa's 70,585. PSU's stadium holds over 105k. It happens everywhere,but Iowa outdrew the 3rd most popular program in the country this weekend,so I can live with it.
 
Considering they had more demand for season tickets than they had supply, I find it hard to believe this game wasn't officially a sellout.

Unofficially, there were quite a few empty seats behind the student section.
 
The ticket office later corrected the announcement as a sellout.

ULM barely had any fans there. For all we know, they returned 2000 tickets the week of the game.

Btw, did the original poster have a ticket to the game? Or just complain about other fans? I know I was there.
 
It was not a sellout ... tickets were still available from the Hawkeye ticket site online the night before ... they posted 69,5?? on the jumbotron ... if they want to revise history to say it was a sellout, fine with me, but not the truth
 
We need some Big Business' to buy all unsold tickets so we can have a record sell out streak for 50 years

The number on the jumbotron was later claimed to be inaccurate. And the industry standard is to consider it a sellout when only singles remain, so it may have been only singles left. You may claim it wasn't really a sellout, but by that measure there are lots of games across the country incorrectly deemed a sellout.
 
Dolph said it was a sellout right at kickoff, said people bought them up right up to the game.

Pre-game he said there were tickets available, but then before kick said all remaining tickets were bought.
 
Some Clone over on CF said that they were giving tickets away at the gate just before kickoff. Any truth to those rumors?
