I'm disappointed in us fans!

that claim seems suspect at best

It's not that tough to do. If a business or individual wanted to make a "donation" to Iowa's FB team, they could have their "donation" be to buy up unsold FB tickets. Wouldn't really be that expensive, relatively speaking.

I was at the game too. The jumbotron did say that the attendance was 69,xxx. I never saw them retract that. There were a lot of empty seats all around the stadium. There was a large block in the middle of the east side, down low, behind the ULM line that was unfilled for a while. Not sure why. Outside before the game there were a lot of people selling tickets along with the usual ticket pushers, and they had more than six tickets at a time they were selling. I think many decided not to come to this game and sold to the scalpers....so they were sold once maybe, but then they didn't resell which equaled empty seats in the stands.

Overall I thought the crowd was kind of blah for this game...especially in the "A" zone.

The crowd was very blah in the W zone. ALot of people must normally around me must have gave their tickets to their parents or something

I think it was their great grandparents or fatigued twenty somethings! I tried to do my part as a Hawk-crazy 48 year old but was clearly outdone by my 72 year old father. I had no problems hearing him five rows down and ten seats over! Even one of 2starStans people came over to talk to him about his yellin'!
You go daddy!!!

I got yelled at to sit down by some people that weren't even behind me! They were probably midtwenties and had a blanket to stay warm. They couldn't make an effort to cheer, clap or even do a little screaming in third down situations! And they left early.

Dolph said it was a sellout right at kickoff, said people bought them up right up to the game.

Pre-game he said there were tickets available, but then before kick said all remaining tickets were bought.

Glad to see the walk-ups preserved the sellout. I hope that is what honestly happened.

I specifically chose this game to bring along extra family because I knew it'd be the easiest ticket.

UI game notes released today list Sat's attendance at 70,585.

That's official paid attendance not actual butts in seats. Again, season tickets were oversold again this year so it's highly unlikely that there will be any games this year that aren't officially sellouts.

From the Quad-City Times.

One call that was reversed Saturday had nothing to do with what took place on the field at Kinnick Stadium.

A crowd of 69,529 was initially announced and even made its way onto the scoreboard but upon further review, Iowa announced a sellout of 70,585 about 20 minutes after the initial announcement was made.

University officials said tickets sold by Bravo Sports Marketing were not counted initially, leading to the discrepancy.

Iowa has sold out all but two of its last 50 home games.

The University always holds tickets back until a few nights before the game.
They have been doing this for years. And it's not the visiting team allotment. They are prime seats located between the 20 yardlines.

2 weeks ago, I could only get seats in section 101 and 110 from the website (the visiting team allotment). 3 days before the game, I could get seats in 125, 107, 104. Basically any section I wanted.

Heck, the University announced a sellout the week of the game! It would be nice if they would release ALL the tickets they have available during single game sales.

Someone said something about tickets being given away at the game?!? Never seen or heard of that before. Any truth to that?

Highly doubt that. Now some tickets may have been sold for dirt cheap but doubt if the university walked around and handed out free tickets ...

I dont think you used "let me google that for you" correctly. it provided no information pertinent the discussion.

No, I used it right. I hate Nebraska. Anyone that knows me knows this. It's the info I wanted to put out there. This "record" is just another reason I hate them.
