Dynamite drop in Monty.
Love Major League. And yes. A blanket statement. As an Iowa fan you almost have to. We never play consistent, so we never know.
Dynamite drop in Monty.
People are really good at making up things and then pretending I said them.
If we drop one of the Purdue or Illinois games, we're NIT bound, barring winning the B1G tourney.
As crazy as it seems, once one of these talking heads talks about us on the bubble it will take off. If it gets mentioned, look out, it will snow-ball. Two more losses and our name being brought up.....
This team can't beat anyone right now. They will win...at most....1 more game this season and will play in the NIT.
I have been a big supporter of Fran, but he has royally messed this team up.
Lets just stop all the talk that the Iowa's punched their season to the NIT with this losing skid. We're sliding and on a 3 game losing streak, but lets not act like we're NIT bound. We've got just as good a chance at righting the ship and getting back in the win column with a solid finish to the season.
Rather than the crazy talk of tanking the rest of the way and going to the NIT I think we should all focus on the fact that regardless of whether its the B1G Ten tourny, March Madness, or wost case scneario the NIT; something needs to change to have a shot at winning any of them.
I've always had a mentality that theres essentially 3 parts to every season; preseason, conference play, and post season. To be successful you have to gradually get better at each point and elevate your performance so that you peak at the right time. That said we've still got a few games to right the ship and get back on track to have a success in the post season. We're running out of rehearsals and opportunity to get the flaws ironed out, but lets not all jump ship at once.
I wonder if the meltdown over on CF would be this bad after losses to K-State, Baylor, and Okie State.

Probably not because if you are Wing and Ling before the season you could go either way with those games. I'm not sure about everyone else but even before conference play started I would have pencilled in MN and Indiana as W's even being on the road.
Really? I had both as losses and I was at 10-8 which still remains a possibility. Penn State and Northwestern were the only 2 road games I was thinking Iowa would win. I had the wrong split for Ohio State, thought we would beat them at home while losing to them on the road.
Take out the record you thought you needed to be at and just looking at the situation and the numbers and the eye test then how would feel about it? Would you say, "We should win those games?".
WOW, I heard this joke back in the FALL OF 1978 when BOB COMMINGS was our football coach.reminds me of the story of the little boy stuck in the middle of a custody battle between his parents. Finally the judge asked him. Son would you like to live with your mom? No, your honor, I would not. She beats me. Well, what about your father, I guess you'd rather live with him then? No, he beats me too. Well what do you suggest? I want to live with the Iowa hawkeyes, they don't beat anybody.
Going into this week I did not think Iowa would lose both @ Indiana and @ Minnesota, so yeah in that sense you are right. I would not have pictured Iowa giving up 188 points in those games either along with holding Yogi down to 8 points and losing.
I admit I bought into the idea that Iowa was something special this year even though in my heart of hearts I have never believed this team was a Final Four team. But I did expect this team to be in the NCAA tournament and I do expect Fran and this team to right this ship and get the job done. Not all is lost, a 6 seed in the NCAA is not all that bad and is still a decent position to make a run.
