He's a true freshman who has had limited practice time coming off an injury.

I think some low expectations are in order.

I'll be encouraged if he sees the field in the first half, has one or two positive yardage plays, and acts like he wants to block a blitzing linebacker.

True freshman at RB can still come in and run the football and be good. We see true-freshman all over the country have huge 1st years. Coker has the build and I believe the speed to make a splash right away.

I have more expectations that just one or two positive yardage plays out of him in the 1st half. We are playing Ball State. Coker would probably be one of the best running backs in the MAC right now.

I expect him to have 100 yard performances this year, and I think he's capable of it. If Wegher and Robinson did it last year (Robinson rs fr) then I don't see any reason why Coker can't step in and do it this year. The kid looks impressive.

Remember guys. We need RBs who can work well in pass protection and even in the pass game...as much as we need them to put up good rushing stats.

Does he have his moped yet?

It's not just that he's a true freshman, it's that he's coming off an injury and hasn't had much practice.

While I agree that RB is a position where it's probably easier for freshmen to contribute, Coker hasn't had the reps and we have no idea whether or not he's picked up blocking schemes yet.

From all accounts, he's going to be a really good back, I just think Ferentz isn't going to throw him out there for 15-20 carries at this juncture unless A Rob gets hurt.

last year we had a rs fresh and a true fresh. Im sure coaches might be looking at long term vs ballstate. All Arob needs is a break now and then. He will be hit and hit hard in Big 10 sched. Better to get help now then wait intil he goes down with ankle injury as last year!

He's been full-go in practice since ISU week. He hasn't had a ton of reps, I'm sure, but he's had ample time to learn the playbook and attend meetings, and thankfully his injury was to his shoulder and not his knee or ankle. Shouldn't slow him down any. He may be a bit ginger on the first few hits, but we never really found out what his injury was so that's hard to say.
