You never know what’s gonna happen. They face Ohio St. next. What if they get a few unforeseen injuries to a few key players? They do run the wheels off of their RB’s and it’s a long season. How many great Wisconsin RB’s are thriving in the NFL and for how long? You don’t think Jonathan Taylor might be getting a little leg weary? Anything can and will happen. That’s the nature of the game.

Even if OSU trounces them, they have their bye week to prepare for our sorry-ass offense. Could be another sub 100 yard performance for our guys.

Have you watched the past 3 weeks? Our offensive line can't stop anyone. Those of you holding out hope that Iowa can still win the West after watching this shit show the past 3 weeks are drinking WAY too much kool-aid.

Totally get what you're saying. I haven't seen much to give me confidence of improvement, especially from the inconsistent playcalling and still not enough from the oline.

I've seen a few flashes though, just no consistency. Likely will need a few bounces our way.

That said, I'll go into each game with a hope, even if flavored with a little koolaid delusion. It's a sickness. A loss to NW or IL will end all that nonsense though.

Wisc would still be massive longshot.

The key to running on Iowa's D is spreading them out and slowing down the LBs reads. PSU did that well, with the constant RPOs, fake sweeps and tosses, which widened us out, on top of Cain being difficult to tackle.

Wiscy's game is to wear on teams until they break the big one, which they had trouble doing Saturday.

Our defense can do the same, but we can't let them be on the field for long stretches of time or to have to defend a short field.

As much as I hate to say it, the key to winning that game is playing peak Ferentz-ball.

We’ve all seen enough Iowa football under KF to know what his good teams look like. To me, this doesn’t look like one of them. Way too inconsistent in too many areas. His good teams are sound at the point of attack, not out of position and don’t beat themselves.

Yep, this is me. My heart wants to think there is still a chance but my head says otherwise. But each Saturday I'll be watching the game hoping for the best. If Iowa can some how win the Northwestern Super Bowl next Saturday then maybe I'll join the bandwagon as, by the numbers, Iowa would still have a chance. But I just don't see how Iowa can score against that Wisconsin defense let alone beat them in Madison.

His good teams also have a qb who can go off-script and make a big play several times a game. Helps to overcome the limitations in offensive coaching.

They have improved slightly over the week. This week against NW will tell us more. You can’t expect some of these young players to perform perfectly when thrown into the fire. They need time to grow and adjust. We have to be patient but I believe they will improve with more playing time and experience. You have to look ahead to the future and realize how much this is going to help our o-line down the road. Stop being so negative and look for the positive this will have moving forward. They are just kids. They are not seasoned pros. Give them a break and we’ll be praising them sooner than later.

So maybe by the end of the year they can beat someone worth a crap, right? Perhaps the coaches should try developing the players before the season begins or against the Middle Tennessee's on the schedule so they will be ready to face another college team full of "kids" like Michigan or Penn State.

I'm by far not the most negative poster on here but I call it like I see it. This team isn't going to win the West. If at the end of the season I end up being wrong feel free to rub my nose in it. I won't even care because I'll be too amped over the win.

Michigan and Penn St. are “developing” a lot of 4 and 5 star kids. Most of them come in and are more college ready to play. We have to take more time to develop our kids. We usually need two years to get these guys ready. I agree with you on one point though, I would like to see our young players to get more reps in non conference games once we get a good lead. That would definitely help in the long run. If we do somehow manage to beat Wisconsin, I’m not gonna rub your nose in it. I’m not that guy.

I don't look at this as a good enough excuse. Iowa is always going to load up on 3 star recruits, if this is your excuse then you are making it every year.

KF teams have always been known for good offensive lines and this year has been the worst we've seen in a while and these are not freshman. In fact a couple of the guards that have been seeing a lot of playing time were 4 star recruits and are seniors.

Schott, Linderbaum, Ince, and Britt are ALL freshmen.

Kallenberger is a RSSO with his first real action at a position he hasn't played until this year.

Landen Paulsen is getting his first real action ever.

I know that there are freshman playing on the line but in a way that's kind of the problem, having to rely on freshman. Landen getting his first "real action" as a senior is a problem. When I look at the depth chart only Linderbaum starts and I think he's been decent.

While I respect this stance and have said the same thing myself, if you can watch a replay of the Illinois/Wisconsin game. Also the 4th quarter of the NW/Wisconsin game. Wisconsin's DBs can be had.

The Smith injury is going to hurt Iowa's chances and KF probably won't go to a more pass first offense unless he's absolutely forced to but there is a weakness to the Badger D. Illinois exploited it without one of the their best WRs

I don't disagree, I just question whether the line can block enough to give those WR's time to beat those DB's.
