illini giving up ??

Leonard has never looked that good to me.....

Referees are the story of this game.....

Hightower ruined any possibility of the Illini emerging victoriious.....

Nightmare over......

:D

That would help make up his mind, as would the coaching change.
If scouts are telling him he's a first rounder (which is what I read), then he's gotta go now.
I just don't see it. I'd suspect the 1st round pick is purely on potential.

Isn't this what every draft pick is selected on?

they'll land a great coach, i can almost guarantee it. they have the tradition and the recruiting hotbed (chicago) to lure just about anybody.

Illini will be back in two years.

Illinois is not a bad job at all, upper half of the B10 job for sure. But Illinois has never recruited Chicago well. As far as Chicago kids are concerned, Champaign may as well be in a different state. People always assume Illinois has some right to the Chicago kids but they really have no more advantage than Indiana, Michigan, Kansas or any other school like that.

Illinois doesn't play dirty thats why the kids go else where plain and simple. Chicago is corrupt as hell when it comes to recruiting.

So Bill Self didn't play dirty at Illinois, but once he got to Kansas he started buying Chicago recruits? Is that what you're saying?

Illinois poses same problems Indiana did. Defense will collapse on Leonard allowing wide open 3s or if Iowa mans up, Leonard goes wild. This is a terrible matchup for Iowa.

I don't care if Illinois is struggling, so is Iowa and Illinois has talent to whoop us still. Iowa is a punching bag right now and it is asinine to see Nebraska and Penn State and Iowa battle for dead last when Iowa is suppose to be improved.

Iowa is improved 5 B10 wins > 4 B10 wins. Plus if you can't see the on court improvement over last year, then I don't know what to tell you.

People have been saying that for going on a hundred years.

And Bill Self didn't have them on their way before being whisked away by Kansas? If Self were still at Illinois, they very well could be the newest member to the club with Kansas/Duke/etc.

That's the point. Look at Miami in football. You can have all the talent in the world in your backyard but if you don't get the right coach or get the right players to buy into the system it isn't always pretty.

Plus its much easier in bball to get kids from out of state and one or two true stars can make a difference between a below .500 team and one that goes deep in the tourney.

Not to mention look at all the talent in Iowa over the last few years. Illinois is no more of a huge threat to the B1G then Iowa is.

the iowa talent and the talent out of the chicago area are not even comparable. and if you think Iowa and Illinois are on the same level as a program goes, you're kidding yourself. you forget that Illinois played for the national title in '05?

Just look at the talent on that team now. Just imagine how a much more uptempo system would work for Illinois.

Getting beat by Nebraska is the embarrasing, icing on the cake. BW has to go.

This is good news for Iowa fans for this season, as Illinois has it packed away already.
