I'm with you. When i read the tweet, I thought I had to be missing context somewhere. 4-6 weeks for a torn achilles?Too bad. Crap.
Am I wrong, years ago, weren't these things career ending at first, then later out for a year? Now 4-6 wks. That's amazing. Am I thinking of the correct injury?

Why wouldn't he? He took a regular redshirt in 2013 and played 3 seasons (2014, 2015, 2016) but only in 2 games this year. He should be eligible for a medical redshirt.I don't think he's eligible for a medical hardship. This sucks.

Hmmm. Seems like a classic definition for a 6th year senior with the medical. Too bad if that's true.Morehouse tweeted it out he wasn't expected to get a medical hardship.
He should qualify. According to Wikipedia: "A special case involves the eligibility of a player who loses the majority of a season to injury. Popularly known as a medical redshirt, a hardship waiver may be granted to athletes who appear in fewer than 30% of team competitions (none after the midpoint of the season) then suffers a season-ending injury."
Since he has played in 2 games of our 11 game season, that is 2/11 or 19% of the team competitions. If he is out for the rest of the season, it is after the midpoint.
He may want to not seek a medical redshirt and opt for the NFL, but it seems that he qualifies.
So does that mean you can get two medical red shirts, but you can't red shirt once, then get one medical red shirt?Ike already redshirted which is the issue and he didn't redshirt because of an injury. From my understanding to get the 6th year you have to be out two years with an injury. For example MVB got another year because he never redshirted. KF said it in his press conference today that by the book Ike wasn't eligible for one.
