If you could add only one player...

John Lickliter. We need someone to hand out water.

Seriously, Gatens would add a lot. We lack 3 point shooting and a player who can get hot from the 3 and carry the offense when it goes into its slumps.

But, man, Doug Thomas would add some street cred to this bunch. I loved watching that dunk reel. But I liked how he acted out after the dunks. And did the crowd get excited.

Jake Kelly, Bryce Carwright, Matt Gatens or Jeff Horner -

I liked Bryce and he was key in helping Fran to get things headed in the right direction, and no disrespect to Bryce at all (he's a hell of a lot better baller than I ever was), but you can't be serious, right?

He might be confused with Freeman

I'll take a guy who can lead the B1G in assists and could drive and penetrate on any defense and create for for this team any day.

I'm not confused, I think this team could use more help at point, which is why I listed him.

Among PG, where does Horner rank.
among SG, where does Haluska rank
Gatens?
among PF, where does Brunner rank

PG
Horner
Gessell
Clemmons

SG
Marble
Haluska
Gatens
Uthoff

PF
White
Brunner
Basabe
McCabe

In my opinon it's all close. Gesell and/or Clemmons could end up being better than Horner was. Brunner is better than Basabe, but I don't think there'd be much improvement with Brunner in there. Gatens would be a nice guy to shuffle in and out of the current lineup. But we don't need him. We're loaded at guard.

And there hasn't been a center in the last 10 years that is better than Gabe or Woodbury.

Slightly outside the time framework, but we need a Reggie Evans. We've got plenty of scoring, but we need a muscular, space eating, big time rebounder.

Greg Brunner without at doubt, Iowa has not one player who is a true post player. Woodbury is, but he isn't ready to impact the offensive side in that kind of way yet.

Plus when Brunner shaved his head he looked like Dr. Evil, how can you not pick him?

I would never pick Evans back for Iowa, would rather have a guy like Brunner who was a great player and teammate.

^^^ and besides, he's a good old Charles City Comet baby ^^^ (side note....that's where I have lived for the past twenty years and watched him in high school).....:)
