If we lose Jaleel Johnson...

I saw the facebook post on here. Not sure when it was posted, or what was said after the fact. I feel like he is our most important guy coming in. I want the beast D-line back at Iowa. Got to have it. With the Coker thing happening, we don't need this. Then you add the 2 bball *** kickings. It has not been a great week to be a Hawkeye.

If he decides not to come to Iowa, the program will survive. Do I think he would help the D line a lot, absolutely, but he won't make or break the program. However, a kid with his size and skill set would be very beneficial to the program in the very near future.

I'm more concerned about the domino effect on recruiting and not just Johnson himself. Don't get me wrong, losing Johnson would suck. DL is a very big area to be targeted for improvement and losing him would be a blow. The issue I think about is the fact that a lot of these recruits, especially the Illinois recruits, are all connected. You get one to start questioning their choice how long before somebody like Faith or Fleming start to rethink things?

...I'll be very upset.

In order to sustain success, both lines need to be strong.

This coaching staff better be on top of this.

I hope he still comes. Signing Day is still 21 days away.

It is only my opinion but I think this kid is the biggest MUST GET, MUST KEEP player Iowa has come across in the last 5 years.

Why be so negative? Things dont always go the way we want. Its called life. Keep your head up!

If Coker having to leave is the reason Jaleel wants to break his commitment then that is his choice. He should look at the bigger picture for himself. How about playing at a school that is one of the best in the nation at making him NFL ready? Jaleel has a great oportunity here at Iowa and i hope he keeps his commitment.

Remember you will have to get thru some bad times in order to appreciate the good times.

It is a dead period until this weekend sometime, so the coaches are unable to contact him to explain things unfortunately.

Good point. I’m generally more optimistic than 99% of this board. I will admit though, the latest news has shaken my confidence a little. Go Hawks.

+1.

If someone doesn't come to iowa because a player leaves the program following a sexual assault investigation, then it is the recruit's loss. especially given that the Coker family is leaving and stating that 'he'll always be a hawk', as does his mother.

i'm guessing this is a fresh start move more than anything.

I tend to agree here. And it's not like these recruits don't have a good 2nd option that they can go with.

His comment along with him losing both his future position coach and defensive coordinator has me extremely concerned.

I don't think a recruit would decide not to come because of an investigation, but the University President's actions could. Being suspended do to an investigation of an incident that occurred in IC when you were traveling with the team would make me question the University President's ability to run the institution and not cause a recruit's name to be smeared by snap reactions. It does show the University sets completely different standards for the football team then the rest of the student body.

can he call the coaches?
I don't believe so
