If we get Cezar...

Than our starting lineup next year should be

Cartwright
Cezar
Whoever can shoot the best
Basabe
newcomer big or (god it hurts to say this) brommer
Basically use a 2 point systema nd let Bryce and Czar create for everyone else

Well then, proving it in practice should take Cezar about a week...if he takes it slow. You could put the kid on the floor Saturday against Purdue and he'd be one of the three best Iowa players out there. Right now. As a high school senior. Period. End of debate. The original OP is correct.

Fran wants to run a two pg attack the thing is to I know all the old time Iowa freaks go nuts that we don't have a center. I'm telling you right now next year Basabe could hold his own with any big man in the conference. To play along with the topic.

PG Cartwright
PG Cezar
SG Gatens
SG White
PF Basabe.

Come get some.

No, no Gatens (almost spewed coffee over my keyboard seeing him listed as a "shooting" guard)

White would be a SF.

So your lineup would be:
Basabe PF
White SF
Gatens G
Cesar PG
Cartwright PG

Notice how I didn't call Gatens a shooting Guard.

If he decides to attend Iowa I personally think Cezar should come off the bench his first year for two reasons:
1. Depth at the PG position.
2. He seems energetic/flashy enough to provide a spark off the bench.

Hate to be a downer, but when he sees us lose and the weak crowd that is there, he'll run back to OkyState and sign right away.

He's not Derrick Rose for crying out loud.

When he visited OkyState they had only 40% or about 6k seats filled. That for a team with 18 wins.

Saturday I can see 11-12k fans in attendance for a 10(hopefully 11) win team.

Also, a win or a loss doesn't really matter. As long as its fun to watch and competitive.

I was just reading an article from the Tulsa newspaper and it illustrates the significant attendance problems going on at Oklahoma and Okie St. Half full arenas. Also, Iowa had a pretty good home crowd against Michigan last time out. I expect a decent crowd Saturday.

If Iowa adds Cezar Guerrero and God's Gift Achiuwa to a roster already including Melsahn Basabe, they will handily lead the all name team for the next three years at least.

Then run
Marble
Payne
May
McCabe
Ogelsby
Brommer
Fresman to be named later

off the bench would have some minutes played on the bench.

I think this depth would help a lot. I think Payne/Guerrero alone would make Cartwright more effective on both sides of the ball and let Marble focus on the 2 position

Marble, Oglesby, May, McCabe all have different strengths that could be utilized by Fran in the 2-3 positions.

I think both Brommer and our last recruit will play quite a bit. Especially if we go with a smaller lineup (White and Basabe) we will need Brommer to play some defense against bigger opponents.

We could actually have a 12 man rotation next year!

Just think how well Cartright will play in the late minutes of a game if he can actually take a breather once in a while during the game. It will make a world of difference IMO. Perhaps he will shoot better because his legs will be under him. Signing Cezar will be a trickle down effect all around.

Last night, Iowa was playing very well in the first half until Cartwright went to to the bench for a rest at about the half-way point.

After that, it was lights out, Katie bar the door.

True, but he is about as close to it as the Hawkeyes are gonna get at this point, so there is reason to be excited. He'd be the highest ranked player the Hawkeyes have signed since Tyler Smith.
