If we beat Creighton...

I would be thrilled to see Iowa get a single vote for the top 25 but I think it will take more than a win against Creighton to do it. But a win over Creighton would be huge as it would be one of those "quality wins" that could help Iowa get into a post season tournament.

No. Iowa won't be ranked or receiving any votes.

Iowa would have to be undefeated going into the Clemson game and then beat them for the Hawkeyes to maybe receive votes of some sort.

Even that is a bit far-fetched.

If we are undefeated after Clemson, i think we will recieve some votes but we will not break into the top 25.

There have been at least 5 ranked teams that have lost already, and there will probably be at least 5 different ranked teams with a loss due to all the tournaments the next 2 weeks.

I don't think it is far fetched at all.

If we go undefeated in the preconference, we probably would receive some votes, but not enough to be ranked in the top 25. That is for certain. What that would mean is that unless we win most of our first seven B1G games, we will probably will not be ranked throughout the season because more than likely we lose 5 of our first 7 in the B1G. We would have to win at least 8 out of the remaining 11 games to possibly be ranked in the top 25.

We could win 8 of the last 11 B1G conference games, but could easily lose at Indiana, at Northwestern and at Illinois.....

:)

Frankly, I am not too concerned about ratings. I just want us to keep winning. If we do that, everything else will fall into place.

It will only happen if a midwest writer votes for Iowa. No one outside of Iowa knows anything about Hawkeye Basketball right now. I hate typing that, but it's true. It will take some time to rebuild the image.

They can get in the ranks if they can get to 11-0 or 12-0.

The only reason I could see it is because Creighton has votes currently so maybe people would think a win over them would make us then worthy of votes but rankings really mean nothing.

by beating the predicted MVC conference champion, and beating a ACC team will indeed warrent a vote or 2 as Iowa will be getting more pub, White getting a dbl dbl his 1st game already got peoples attention, the talking heads on ESPN will be talking about how Fran is making progress, so i will not be surprised by any ranking or votes after the Clemson games

but 1st things 1st and that is beating Creighton on sunday

This is going to be a better game than most are anticipating. Creighton has a solid team and McDermott is a beast down low. We need to get him in foul trouble because I don't know if we have anyone who can slow him down. I'm expecting an 8 point game, I just hope we come out on top.

What do you think most are anticipating?
From comments and conversation, most people think it will be a very tough battle for Iowa.

It should be a very tough battle for the Hawks and Creighton. They have been difficult every time we have played them in recent memory.

Have we beaten other then that time in the tournament in 2001 was it?
I am not completely certain but I thought under Alford we played them twice and were lucky to win both games. Mr. Davis's team played them once, I believe, and it was also a very tough win.....

I could be wrong but I think we have played them three times recently.....

Haven't got the time or energy to look the stats up right now.....

:)

this will be a very solid test for Iowa, after playing 2 sloppy games and the a better controlled tempo, the outcome will be a tossup,
it will come down to eho hits the 3's and FT's as depth will not be a problem, perhaps Brommer will be healthy as he has the bulk to go up against their big man but i also feel Archie and Olaseni have the quicks to get him into foul trouble, Archie has improved but his FT's are a big problem, Olaseni can make the FT's but youth will be a problem this is where Brommer could help, White, McCabe and Basabe will take turns guarding Mac's son

We lost twice to them that I know of in the regular season. I believe was once at Carver during Dr.Tom's last year and I think it was before anyone heard of them though they did make their first tourny run that year (I'm going strickly off of memory here). I think we had a couple cracks at the game winning shot under the bucket but couldn't put one home.

We then lost to them in Omaha, I think Alford's first year. The year we won our first Big Ten Tournament title we beat them in the first round of the tournament. Those are the only 3 times I remember playing them.

You are correct, we have had problems with them for certain. Mr. Davis lost to them once and Alford won one and lost one.

This is from the Creighton site. Good site, a ton of information.....

The Series With Iowa
Iowa leads the all-time series with Creighton by a 14-10 margin, but the Bluejays have won four of the past six meetings.
The team’s last meeting (March 15, 2001) was also the only previous neutral-site meeting, as Iowa won 69-56 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Uniondale, N.Y.
Creighton has reached the NCAA Tournament each of the last four seasons it has played the Hawkeyes.
Creighton head coach Greg McDermott is 5-4 all-time against Iowa, but has never faced Fran McCaffrey
