If Rogers DOESN'T play this week...

I've got to imagine that if KF offers him the chance to play this year, Rogers will jump all over that opportunity.

Wouldn't you?

Well said, PhoenixHawk...I'm with you on this one. IF Rogers is completely set on RS this season, I'm sure he would let the coaches know that. But seriously, you'd be crazy to not want to contribute to an 8-0 team in the national spotlight.

You have only one question to ask: "What is best for the team?" I bet there is not a player on the roster who is redshirting that wouldn't gladly pull the RS off if it meant he could help his TEAM win a game. Not one.

Why is everyone sold on that we are going to have 6 solid backs next year? Last time i checked knee injuries can linger, so how do we know Jewell will be ready to go next year?

Brinson injury maybe minor, might not. What happens if something happens and it doesn't pan out and he transfers?

A-robs Injury i know only an ankle sprain, but those can be nasty. Sometimes they don't heal right and can hamper a player for years.

Until our guys get back to 100% health, i wouldn't be betting on anyone for next year. The only personal we have now is Wegher & Paki. I think those two are good enough to carry the load these last 4 games.

Why worry about 3 years from now? B/c this is a kid's COLLEGE CAREER we're talking about. Of which he only gets ONE! As fans it is easy for us to sit back and say, 'rip the redshirt off him,' but understand what we're talking about here. This is a career-changing decision for Rogers.

Sorry I have to disagree, it isn't a career changing decision. He came to Iowa to represent the University of Iowa, get an education first and foremost and to play football second. If he isn't needed until the 9th game of the season that is part of what he signed up for in exchange for the education, to play football, even if it is only for 4 games this year.

3 years from now he will still be getting his education, but you have to do what is best for the team at this point and not the individual as it pertains to football.

Yeah, well I think this is 'Much Ado about Nothing'. If we Burn the redshirt for Brad Rogers, so what? We are possibly playing to be in the National Championship game. If he can help get there, this year, I'd say it outweighs 3 years from now, when we MIGHT be a 7-5 team.

And, even if Brad plays this year, with A Rob, Jewel, Coker, Wegher, maybe Brinson, all at back next year..........he could Redshirt next year.

LET'S GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just win baby, score HEAVILY!!!!!!!

Some coaches are really good at using player injuries as a way to use a little psychology and deception on the opposition. Hayden was famous for it.

Maybe Kirk is doing that right now. Iowa's running game is much less threatening to opposing teams if they think A rob is on the sidelines.

Ask Rogers what he wants to do! I GUARANTEE you that the redshirt comes off!

I like the extra dimension that Rogers adds to this offense....

4th and 1 foot from the 1 foot line, you have had 3 pass plays incomplete, the plan is to pound it over the middle and the OSU linebackers are way to quick and aggressive to try the over-the-top jump play. Who do you want to drive the ball up the middle? A back that is 200lbs(or less) or some 230lb bruiser? You make the call...

I don't think the redshirt comes off unless they absolutely have to. I think it's a pretty safe bet that he doesn't see the field in the first half and if the coaches feel like they need to make a move he'll play in the second half.

If he doesn't play at all this game I find it highly unlikely that he sees the field for the rest of the year.

yeah, this situation is pretty unbelievable for an Iowa team.

but to answer the question it would be neither. If I only had to gain a foot then I run a QB sneak.

Becasue we haven't practiced the jailbreak screen enough this year to run it in a game?

Seriously, I wondered that same thing. If memory serves me correct, I think were shut down the previous 1st and goal (2 runs and a fade pass). In my opinion, due to the previous stop, we threw it three times becasue MSU pulled us out of our game plan the second time around.

if he is good enough to be on the field you play him (period)

look at Keenan Davis, how much is he playing? you think he'd rather red-shirt? I'm betting no. If everyone else is back healthy next year, red-shirt rodgers then

Yes, who cares if they pull the redshirt? I mean seriously. If Brad Rogers is taking care of his business in the classroom, he would either get a four year degree in either four or five years. Either way he will get his education, no matter if the redshirt is burned or not. If he can help the team now, torch it!!!

Didn't Kirk say when they told him he might play at Michigan St. that he was excited. Doesn't sound like Rogers has a problem pulling the redshirt.
