If Marvin McNutt averages...

73 yards receiving per game over the next 9 games (assuming a bowl game) he will break the all time record for receiving yards in a career and a season (he is averaging 103 per game right now)...and if he keeps up his current receptions per game average, he would have 81 this year, and the record for a season is 82.

Gee, who has that record(career yards)? I think we would all like to see that broken. He will already have the record for td's in a career next game. Good for him.

C'mon, Jon...we've got 10 games left counting the one in Indy ;)

McNutt is becoming one of my all time favorite Hawks! He deserves the record. A first class person and teammate. I'd like to forget about DJK all together.

I don't care if he breaks the record or not. Great if he does, oh well if he doesn't. I'm not so eager to just forget about what DJK did for the program over the past four years, even if it didn't end well.

That said, McNutt has a real chance to break the yardage record.

This.

Yeah, I'm ****** off at him for letting himself and the program down. But can't say I just want to forget about him completely either. At least not yet. /shrugs

Season = 1037 by Keith Chappelle (1980)

all those yards that Long threw for and he didn't have a receiver catch for more than 1000 yards in a season? i'm going to have to look that up.

I was wrong, I stated Mcnutt would not get 1000 yds. receiving this year, barring injury it is pretty obvious that he will. In fact, Davis might do it too.

This is different from Kasper's 1000 yd. season in 2000, he got a lot of yac yards from bubble screens. Davis/Mcnutt are getting big chunks of yardage through the air.

Also, I would like to amend JVB's projections from 2200 yds. passing to 3000, TD passes from high teens to the mid 20's.

I never said anything about forgetting about DJK. I have made several posts/tweets the last 24 hours about pace and records. Marvin is in the ballpark.

McNutt is a great young man and I hope he has a big season. I think he will.

I have forgiven DJK for his mistakes and I know in my heart that he is a good kid. He made some mistakes due to his immaturity. He will grow up (hopefully) and find his way in the world. In time, he will be accepted by Hawk fans and go down in history as a truly great Hawkeye player.

Not trying to play devil's advocate here, but why do we have to forget about DJK (whether we'd like to or not) in the event Marvin breaks the records. Hughes had a great career too, and I don't think we'll all just write him off and forget what he did for the program to simply because his record will most likely be broke. I just don't get it.

I was watching & thinking how crazy it would be if he came in as a receiver or he had another year of stats added to his career. Remember, he could have potentially had another year of playing WR. What a great young man. Happy for him. He's a great Hawkeye & has represented the program very well. :)

Iowa really could use a wide receiver to make a name for himself in the NFL. I really think McNutt could end up playing on Sundays. It would go a long ways for recruiting.

Mcnutt is almost a prototype. 6'4, long arms, meat hook for hands, that is just hard to come by even for the elite programs.....once in a decade type of receiver.
