If Iowa and LSU win, Hawkeyes will HOST again

The first round game against Dayton will be tough, but it seems as though maybe the basketball gods are with us this year. About time.

Tough matchup for LSU traveling to Eugune too.

It would have to work out perfectly for this to happen, but obviously, it can.

And if Iowa wins, and Oregon wins....we play on that hideous court in the woods...

Cross that bridge when we get there, go Hawks!

Anything but the tree court in Eugene. I am sure Phil Knight is churning out Oregon's special NIT camo, neon yellow winged uniforms as I type this. Much rather face LSU than Oregon. This is setting up to be one of those underwhelming performances that have been all too common this season. Hope I am wrong, but opportunistic we are not.

I feel like Iowa is the type that could win the NIT (I don't really think we will though). They are absolutely going to be motivated and who knows what type of damage they do. Even if they don't win I would love to see them get to New York. That's be an epic finish for a team that lost to some bad teams early in the year.

So wait, what is setting up to be one of those underwhelming performances?
Bottom line,we are playing a #2 seed,so we are underdogs. We are expected to lose.
I prefer to look at it as a chance for an upset win....if we lose, that is to be expected to a team that is seeded that much higher than us.

I don't doubt Iowa should pretty motivated (especially Gatens on his home court) for the NIT. Fran will not let them forget where they are now and how they got there. But, this is still an Iowa team that has major deficiencies (a lacking inside game, poor guard play at times, lacking several consistent shooting threats, struggle with junk defenses....1-3-1) and does not play particular well away from Carver. Iowa is also not exactly invincible at home either. I hope Iowa can survive as long as they can, but it is still going to be tough in the NIT for this Iowa team.

Got to take care of Dayton first and see where things go next. Hopefully, Iowa can beat Dayton and get another home game in Iowa City, before moving on to a probable road game.

Still, pretty exciting to be a part of a post season tourney in Fran's second season on the job.

I'd like a shot at Madison Square Garden. sorta like a homecoming for Basabe, and Fran, who knows what kind of fan supposrt we might get because of it not to mention exposure on the East Coast for Fran to get more recruits from
