if fran gets it turned around...

he will be the big man on campus now Ferentz better watch out

Haha...idiotic. Ferentz is probably one of Fran's biggest supporters and knows exactly what he is going through with the rebuilding process.

Im pretty sure Ferentz could not care less if Fran became the new BMOC.

fans have to get it through their heads to stop the we are not going to be Elite
, Duke was not always Elite til Coach K got there, if you think getting 1 or 3 of those 5* BB players won't put Iowa in the mix for Elite status you are sadly looking the wrong way

I think it would take a deep tourney run for "better" programs to dangle a hook for McCaffrey. He is what, 52 or 53 and I don't see a deep tourney run in the near term for the Hawks. He has a young family with kids playing b-ball all over the state and is 4 hours from her family in MN....pretty good fit I think. With even a tourney appearance, I am sure Barta will open the pocketbook up and sweeten the deal, so it doesn't seem likely. Notre Dame could be the only exception.

lets see Fran has had HC gigs at mid major schools
he now has a job at a school that is currently ranked in the #1 conference in the Country
why would he leave once getting the team in the Big Dance and has shown he can Recruit top talent as well as coach that talent
with top talent you get better results and ESPN is already taliking him up as a coach who has style that players like

Nice for a change to have this topic to discuss after 2 big ten wins on the road, looking at the Hawks upcoming schedule I hope we can STEAL some more wins, I hope we have to worry about Fran leaving for a long time to come!

If he puts a nice 10 year run together at Iowa, he will have made some serious coin, have his kids in or through college and be able to retire to a life of BTN commentary if he so chooses. It worked for Gary Williams.

we got drilled by that Cambell team whe Cartwright was out with a Hammy and Concusion, Marble was just getting over a Concussion and Basabe was battling weight problems, and they are picked to win their conference
Fran will not leave he is building something special in Iowa City
you don't offer 4 players in the ESPN Top 25 for 2014 if you are thinking of leaving down the road
next years class should be good enough to get Iowa in the Tourney, and that would be good enough to move on the way Iowa has been the past few years

What in the world does your first paragraph have to do with the second? Do you just randomly hit the return key?

If he gets it turned around, he will be coaching at an "elite" program. He will be coaching in the best basketball league in the country at an institution with excellent facilities and great fan support. He will be making a handsome salary and living in the area he and his spouse want. What's there to leave for?

The fan base would really go wild if he left for North Carolina. Who knows what the outcome of their coach with the allegations going on. If this coming year is successful with a couple more outstanding recuits, its hard to believe he won't be getting a raise.

Is Fran still here ? Yup!

I think the jury is still out on whether Fran would bolt for a better gig or not. He's done a good job so far, absolutely, but still is yet to win an NCAA Tournament game. It's likely going to take more than a couple NIT's and a play-in game appearance before bigger programs come calling.

Used to think this would be his last stop but if he is successful he will move back east to turn around a once proud school that has become apathetic. He will get sick of the small fishbowl that is Iowa Basketball as Lute did. Love having him as the Hawkeye coach but if he is as successful as we all want and hope, the spotlight from better teams, recruiting locations will be on him dangling the carrot.
in a couple years and gets offers from other schools, do you think he'll stay?
