if fran gets it turned around...

Yes, you rarely see coaches move from mid-level power conference job to mid-level power conference job (and usually only when they've worn out their welcome, Herb Sendek, Frank Haith). Fran is already in his mid 50's, let's get crazy and say we make an elite eight in three years, he will be 56 at that point. Not many top tier jobs are going to want to hire a coach that old.

It's hard to say, but I tend to think that since Fran is already in his 50's, this is likely his last stop. If he's here for very long, I think it's more likely he retires before leaving us for another job.

He moved here to be closer to his wife's family in Minny. Wouldn't expect they would find a better job any closer.

The only job to be concerned about would be ND. But I think Fran is probably still burned about what went on there.

Unless he gets offered one of the elite east coast jobs like UConn or Syracuse I don't see him leaving. Nothing else would be an upgrade.

Fran and Marge probably would like their children to be raised and educated in Iowa City......

He is building something special here. I believe he will stay and be successful throughout.....

he moved here because of the paycheck

I think there is a very good chance Fran will win a Big Ten title (the real kind, not the Alford kind) in the next 5 years. If that happens, despite his age, he will be considered a hot commodity. I would think a big time job at an ACC or Big East school would be intriguing, given his background.

The good news is that if Fran has that type of success, the school should be in great position to match whatever offer he gets (assuming the football program doesn't suddenly collapse). And if Fran still leaves, Iowa will be in a great position to make a large offer to a higher level of candidate than they've been able to reach with the last two searches.

Also, last month we got drilled at home by Campbell, whatever that is. So I'm going to enjoy our success one step at a time here.

we got drilled by that Cambell team whe Cartwright was out with a Hammy and Concusion, Marble was just getting over a Concussion and Basabe was battling weight problems, and they are picked to win their conference

you don't offer 4 players in the ESPN Top 25 for 2014 if you are thinking of leaving down the road
next years class should be good enough to get Iowa in the Tourney, and that would be good enough to move on the way Iowa has been the past few years

Fran isn't going anywhere. He will stick around much like Mr. Davis. He's building his program. People need to relax. I swear, Iowa fans have a huge complex issue. People have worried about Ferentz in the same way and yet he stayed. Iowa is a great job.

No kidding, this isn't L'Ames.

Let me get this straight, you don't think he will leave because he has offered kids in the 2014 class? I don't agree with that thinking at all. I am not saying he would leave...I am not even sure we are in the position to think about that yet..but it sure would be nice to have the problem. But to say he wouldn't leave because he has offered kids in the 2014 class schollys is crazy. Let's say he does get this thing turned around that quickly and is offered a job with an elite program, don't you think he would be doing himself a favor by offering these kids in the 2014 class now and building that relationship?

If he gets it turned around, he will be coaching at an "elite" program. He will be coaching in the best basketball league in the country at an institution with excellent facilities and great fan support. He will be making a handsome salary and living in the area he and his spouse want. What's there to leave for?

He gone. I asked this question to Fran's cousin's best friend's cousin. He said Fran hopes to bolt by 2014 and take that recruiting class to his new school.
