If College Football Programs were Businesses for Sale: Values

Rutgers -$19. Assuming the analyist used a discounted cash flow method, does this mean that is set to receive $50 from the school five years from now?

What I get from this list....

Texas should NEVER lose. Iowa should NEVER lose to Iowa State.

More like Notre Dame should never lose! They would be tops on the list if they were not a private school. ND, USC and Miami were not included in this list due to being private schools.

I think for a state like Iowa it's impressive to have two teams on the list. I see that Texas has 3 schools on the list. Lots of college football value in that state.

Iowa would no longer be top 15 if ND, USC and Miami made the list.

Iowa would light years ahead of Miami, and very possibly ahead of USC. The ACC, and Pac 12 are not well represented. They would however, drop out of 15. Likely 16.

So do I. I was impersonating the stereotypical cyclone response to the so-called tavernhawk and it's financial support of the program.

Ah, got it.

On a funny side note I went to the PSU game this year and ran into a PSU grad that lives in Cedar Rapids. Yes, small world. Anyway she asked when I graduated from Iowa, I told her I didn't go to school there and she informed me she hated/didn't understand why people would cheer for a school they didn't go to. I then informed her I was born and raised in IC, lived in the area my entire life and that both my parents and my brother and sister went to Iowa and asked if I had her permission to be a fan?

She said yes, I did however fail to ask her if she really thought that every single one of the over 100,000 people in Beaver stadium cheering for PSU actually graduated from there. I blame the alcohol.

I would guess, and its completely a guess, but I would think all the money gets funneled back into other sports and the school itself. Not to mention paying all the overhead costs.
I'm pretty sure that once you've been deemed a non-profit orginization you just have to show that your income matches your expenditures.

I though the athletic program's money just got funneled back into the athletic program. I could easily be wrong on this but if that's true you are correct in saying that it would go to other sports but no the school itself. I'm not sure how that would effect the non-profit status though. I'm guessing it wouldn't.
