IF Bruce Pearl was hired, and all players/recruits return...

Do we sell out 100% of our games next year with the fresh start?

15,500 x $28 a ticket x 19 games in the year = just shy of 8.25 million.

vs. this year...

6,000 x $28 x 19 games = just shy of 3.2 million.

$5,000,000 per year in lost revenue.

The only point of this is that money WILL NOT be an issue in ANY coaching search.

To be honest I believe our paid attendance was much higher than 6000.

If Bruce Pearl is the coach at Iowa next year, people will fill the seats. He is my #1 choice.

If Bruce Pearl was back at Iowa, it would be the one coach that would sell out Carver and bring instant passion back to the Hawkeye fan base.

This much I am 100% sure about. In fact, I would be all for it.

No hire will well out cHA next yr. But in the hypothetical where Iowa is in the market for a coach and that coach is Pearl I would guess they'd sell at least 3000 more season tickets and they'd have 10,000+ in the seats, routinely

Exactly... Gary Barta knows this.

I am not saying that he is going to be the new coach, but like I said, all these people talking about the money don't realize how much money the BBall program can bring in.

I think Pearl would bring an "instant" fix to the program. Not back to the tourney or anything like that. But he would bring the hype we've lacked since Davis left.

Jon, I really think if Bruce is hired we sellout Carver. I really really do.

I think we'd certainly do better than 10,000 per game. Maybe not a sellout every game, but darn near close. Pearl is such a fan-friendly coach at TN, I gotta believe he'd bring that energy here, too. Students would eat it up.

Hell, he made me a fan of Tennessee!!!!

First let me say that I'm neither a Lick apologist or a Lick Hater. But it's clear that he hasn't gotten the job done at Iowa and it seems that he never will. It's very hard for a coach like that to get back fan support once he's lost it. And Lick has lost support for the Iowa basketball program. To keep him around for another year is really just delaying the inevitable and prolonging the suffering. It's time for a fresh start.

With that said, Bruce Pearl, although I think it's very unlikely and probably just a pipe dream, would be the perfect hire for the Hawkeyes. He has the Iowa ties, an up tempo style of play and a very outgoing and energetic personality.

The math seems to add up to where Iowa could offer Pearl a Ferentz type deal (5 year deal at $3 million per season). Why not make a hard run at him and use whatever resources you have to get him? If you go hard and don't get him, we can probably all live with that. But it can't be a token effort at him like it was before Lick was hired. Go hard and see what happens.

Just as a side note, I work in Chicago on on 670am they just said that Lick's days at Iowa appear to be numbered and Bruce Pearl's name has already surfaced as a possible replacement.

I'm sure that this is just speculation based on all of yesterday's rumors but it's exciting to hear the two linked together.

I guess my question's are, what if he doesn't win in three years like Lick, and two could he bring any of the recruits he has this year with him?

They will not sell out Carver next year, because the team won't be much better next year.
That may be true, but people will get excited again. I think we all know next season is going to be a struggle no matter what happens, but breathing life back into the program is a start.
