If Boisie State wins the NC then your are going to see a royal **** storm from the BCS conferences. They are going to cry bloody murder. The fallout will be such that the NCAA will have little choice other than to institute some sort of playoff system if they want to avoid the majority of BCS teams being openly critical about it.

In order to see a playoff there needs to be a shakeup, and BSU winning the national title is just the thing to do it.

PS Of course if they make the title game and line up against Iowa then all bets are off.

Our best chances of seeing the BCS crash, is BSU another BCS school and a big ten school go undefeated, and BSU gets in ahead of the big ten school (lets just say iowa or tOSU) Jim Delaney himself would bring fire and hell upon the BCS and single handily dismantle it. No matter what ESPN may tell you the big ten is the most powerful conference in Football, and everyone knows it.

I could very easily see Boise St in the title game if they go undefeated and all other teams have at least one loss. Boise St. is the darling of ABC and ESPN.

The current system is a complete joke and should be scrapped. The old system (traditional bowl matchups and subjective polls) was better because it actually allowed the possibility of more than one "mythical" national champion each year.

That's stupid. I want the Hawkeyes to win the championship. Then, any other Big Ten team. Then, about 100 other teams before Boise.

I don't know why anyone in the power conferences would have anything to complain about. Boise is playing by the rules set in place by the BCS.

Sure they play by the rules put in place by the bcs, however their week conference schedule will cost them.

The small schools complained most about the BCS until they learned the system. It does appear that the BCS made some poor "rules" or "logic" when making this BCS system.

The best thing for football is for someone/anyone on BSU's easy schedule is to beat them and end it, and hope the BCS fixes the way they do this.

What they need to do is a BCS 8, where the top 8 BCS teams get placed in a bracket and the winners advance to play in a New Years Day Bowl (2 games) and a National Championship the week after.

Teams outside the BCS 8 could still play bowls and some could be on New Years Day to fill in the time gap.

So, the BCS 8 would take 7 Bowls which could be rotated as $$$ fit. Rose, Orange, Fiesta, Sugar, etc would all get even bigger! Of course one/two would have to have a first round game once in a while. The NCAA still makes $$ by having the bowls bid for the rights/locations.

Bottom Line: If Boise were to make it into the BCS 8, they would still have to win 3 tough games like any other National Champion. Yes, there would be a #9, but you just have to draw the line, and #9 would most likely get the New Years Day Bowl vs. a #10-#14 team. It would be the best of both worlds!

Bring on the "Tostito's BCS 8 Selection Show" hosted by Erik "Hero" Karros! What say you?

Ah yes, Eric Karros - and a joke that only you and I get.

I don't know if you could limit it to 8; you could theoretically have 16 and only add another week.

All that being said, I don't know that the current system is really that bad. The goal of the BCS is to get the best two teams into the national championship, over the last several years - with the exception of OSU in 2007 - they've largely gotten it right.

In any format, you're going to have folks who get left out and complain, it's just the nature of the beast.

They can't help the conference they are in.

I don't understand why some people don't want Boise State in the national championship game. Why does it always have to be teams from a power conference? Why is it automatically assumed a team like Boise can't possibly be the best?

If they go undefeated they deserve a chance (if Alabama and/or Ohio State have a loss).

Boise St will not win a national title but they may play for one which will be enough to kill the current BCS structure.

Just look at who their toughest game of the year is - WVU - who had to take Marshall to overtime and was getting the snot kicked out of them.

Dude, they played Virginia Tech. Not West Virginia.

When did Boise play West Virginia? They beat Virginia Tech.

Everyone knows about their schedule, yet there they are at #3 in the Coaches' Poll. You can bet they get that high in the Harris Poll when it's released, too. They never got higher than #5 in the human polls last year. They're STARTING at #3 this year. If 'Bama or OSU slips, then they are #2.

And don't count on computer hatred, either. They finished last year #6 in the computers. With 2 good teams in their OOC slate this year instead of one, that number probably improves, as well. A pair of #2's and a #4 or #5 in the computers very likely puts them into the championship game. And their chances of attaining those rankings are also very likely in the event that they go 12-0.
