You're right, the fans should p*ss on them after every loss. Builds character.
I think in some counties doing that will get you on the sex offender list...

If I had to guess, just using my brother as a sampling, I would guess tha most fans were encouraging the team rather than congratulating them on a near win.
But then we see things as we want to see them.
I guess that is how some of you look at things. No one wants to lose, but you can keep your head up knowing you gave it your best. Its not like they lost buy 3 points or failed in a last ditch drive. A bad pass to a guy who would of been open if it had any fling to it and they win the game. Hawks havent been playing the cyclones for 105 years so you wouldnt understand what it means to want to beat a team that has beaten you 80% of the time. Am i glad Nebraska won, of course but ISU played with guts and they didnt give up. I admire that alot, as well as sticking by your players when they just had there guts ripped out on a trick play that would of worked.
Honestly I can't believe how some people are getting so riled up for the ISU fans showing appreciation for their players after a very hard fought game. These same people must have forgotten about Iowa's game against NW last year when a large majority of the fans applauded the team even after they lost the game. They weren't celebrating the fact that we lost; rather they were showing their appreciation for what that team had done for the first 9 weeks of the season and how proud of them they were. I swear some people will do anything to find a reason to bash on Iowa State.
Sounds like a fan base that isn't use to winning.
Everybody gets trophies! Yay!
Did all the fans meet the team at Dairy Queen after the game? Yay!
Right, it's a cryin' a** shame that a fan base is proud of their team and said team's effort against a team that is vastly superior.
Seriously, who cares? Let them be proud of their team. That's what fans are supposed to do.
Have we really gotten so jaded that we look down on other team's fans for being proud of their team after a loss?
And FWIW, I don't remember anyone cheering after the NW loss.
I remember a lot of silence and F bombs.
People always cheer at the end of the game when the band plays the fight song as the team leaves the field. But I don't think it has anything to do with praising the team for a loss.
I don't look for reasons to "bash" ISU fans, but I don't look for reasons to go out of my way to defend them. Especially considering how delusional some of them are.
I'm not stopping anyone from being proud of anything. I just think its odd/stupid to applaud after a loss.
You can be proud, but to applaud and run on the field as if you won the game?
Thats another level of pathetic.
Like I said, its a fan base that isn't use to winning.

Either that or they celebrate losses. Their fans took the field to congratulate the players. From Rashawn Parker in the DSM Register- "There were a lot of people down there congratulating us, one wasn't. He was saying some pretty bad things, things that disrespected our team and the players."
I was at the Wisconsin game, but I don't recall our fans taking the field let alone congratulating or disrespecting the team and/or players.
