I really enjoyed this basketball season

What if weiskamps miracle baseline banker doesn’t go in? What if bohannon’s last second shots don’t fall in a couple games? We don’t even make the tourney. It goes both ways. Every yr stands on its own. You can’t assume everything moves ahead from here. Every team is different as are the opponents. A ton of variables dictate things. The inside game has a lot of promise but unless there is an answer with a complementary pg, I don’t see marked improvement to the level that will take this group to heights rarely seen in IC. Weiskamp is a piece that will likely make the biggest move. We need a pg like the Wofford kid and a wing slasher that does it all. Red face has shown repeatedly, he either doesn’t understand the deficiencies we possess or we simply can’t recruit. Either way is completely unacceptable to me and a big part of my frustration with him
Lololol the Wofford kid was completely exposed on defense against Kentucky. He’s 5’10. JBo put up better stats in the B1G than he did in the SoCon. You’re a fool

It was fun to win some close games, to close the deal on the road by being the tougher team. My biggest disappointment was the Maryland loss. Get that game and we're 10-5 in the conference and have the inside track on the four seed for the conference tourney. The Cincinnati win was exhilarating, even if I only got to listen to it while working.
Although it seems like forever a go. The Wisconsin game is one we should have had. Think we led by as many as 8 in the 2H and couldn’t close it out.

Leave it to oldfuck12 to want to trade JBo for a kid who played in Southern Conference and got exposed vs. KY.

That one was on Fran. He had some good moments this year where his coaching meant something. But Gard was a step ahead of him the whole second half that night.

Cook had a monster game, something like 26 and 13. One of his best as a Hawkeye.

You're talking to a guy who wants see our most prolific 3-pt shooter of all time transfer for a "real" PG. He's so far beyond lost that GPS wouldn't help him.
Yeah, this isn't the 1970's anymore. If a kid can hit close to 40% of his three pointers with range and crunch time heroics he's gonna play. If he was around 30% that would be an entirely different story. But he wasn't. His defense is still a big issue and cost us particularly at the end of the Maryland game, among others.

Nebraska doesn't count. You could have put bags over their heads and they were still going to make those late threes. That was too surreal, kind of like our game at the Breslin Center after Chris Street's tragedy.

Take out the whole Fran/Dolph fiascos and factoring in only what happened on the floor I'm more happy then not with how things went. I thought the players did great at keeping all that crap from affecting them for the most part. We didn't have any player disciplinary issues. They were great. It's too bad that the adults running the show can't get out of their own way...

As someone said - a lot better than last year. Still, a very "typical" Fran season. Strong start - terrible finish to the regular season. Mixed bag in the BTT - beat up on a bad Illinois team, just to get crushed in the next round.

A good NCAA showing helped end on a good note, though. Beating Cincy and winning as the low seed was nice to see. That was a good win, against an under-seeded opponent, in their back yard.

Halftime vs. Tennessee was looking ugly.. But making that comeback was nice to see, even in defeat. That was better than previous years against Gonzaga and Villanova where it was never really a game. The team showed a lot of heart.

Still lots of room to improve but overall, a good season.

Well put, deanvogs. JBos 3s against NW and Indiana and Weiskamp bank (you got to call it to get a letter) from the corner were memorable. Yesterday's near comeback would have gone down in Hawkeye lore for a long time, but still nice to see them not give up.

You don’t get it. For a pg, it’s not about “his stats”. It’s about “the team “. Jobo makes it all about him. We need the offense to go through our bigs...not Bohannon. And stop it with the trashing of the Wofford pg defense. Bohannon plays zero so that’s irrelevant. The Wofford pg is a well rounded offensive player and that is what our offense needs. Not a guy playing a game of horse

You just keep piling on lack of credibility on yourself.

I enjoyed the season, but got really discouraged with the long year end losing streak. I lost confidence in the guys and each game I thought, here we go again. Reminded me of the 2018 football season in some ways. I thought we were a better team than our record showed in each case. And even with the loss to TN, the trip to the Dance was great.

I really believe the pieces fit together for next year in a way that it could be a really strong season. I think if TC returns we will be better than without him. I love the returning experience, the flashes of quality defense, second in points per game in the BT. Another step foreword on D will be huge. I want Moss back. I am not as concerned about the point guard position as many on this board. I am happy to welcome a 4* to the fold.

I am generally a supporter of KF, as well as Fran, though I get frustrated with them for the same reasons other posters have mentioned. But, in the end, I am ok in staying with them.
Yeah, I know. Thank you Capt. obvious...

Stats are irrelevant for a pg. winning is the stat that matters as it should be a selfless position if played right.

That's the most bullshit take in all of sports. All it does is try to deflect blame for your shortcomings to someone else. Right up there with participation trophies.

There's no such thing as being "better than your record." If you go 7-5 then you're a 7-5 team, period.

If you were a 10-2 team your record would be 10-2.

Your take has some smell to it as well. There is a lot of luck in college football.

Read Phil Steele's publication sometime. He spends a lot of time talking about it.

It also is a big factor under the KenPom ratings.

To have a great record, you have to be very good and a little lucky.
