I Really Enjoy Watching Iowa State.

Let me preface this by saying that I'm not one or have ever been one to have to hate the other school in the state just because I'm a true fan of the Hawkeyes. They are my first luv, as a team goes. I've tuned in to Iowa State in the past to watch just as a general fan with a little interest in the in-state Clones.

But, I hate to say that I really enjoy watching Iowa State play. You know you are going to tune-in and the game is going to be exciting. They probably have the best and most aggressive defense in the Big 12 and they have an exciting QB, one who makes plays. With Iowa, your not sure your going to get an exciting game at all and most the past few years have been quite boring to watch.

I think Ferentz and Iowa have to be real careful here as there is that chance of a shift in the state. Yes, you are still gonna have all the die-hard Hawk fans but the national attention is focusing on our brethren at this point. Matt Campbell is doing a terrific job there and making Iowa play 2nd fiddle. Sure, he might be gone after this year, but say he stays.

Iowa State has grasped the concept of a mobile QB who can make plays with his feet. It changes everything for the defense.

Iowa, on the other hand, has not. Our mobile QBs don't play, and then transfer. Stanley is one of the least mobile QBs in the United States.

Nothing is going to change until we play a QB that brings the run-pass option into the playbook.

Perplexing, to say the least.

There was a time when we did play two way mobile QB's and had the advantage over the other team on the field in skill position talent.

Then our AD extended our coach.

Then he extended him again. And extended him a third time, well into the next decade.

Iowa State scored 3 points against us. EXCITING!!!!! And no one in the Big 12 plays defense. Look at the scores from this last saturday. Okay I guess Kansas and K State played a lower scoring one.

Yeah we held ISU to 3, lost to NW who only scored 14... maybe the big12 doesnt play defense, or the BIG is just has no offense

Even more perplexing when KF should have learned that lesson 16 fucking years ago when he had the best offense he's ever had.

I think there's some closet clown fans posing as Hawk fans on this site. Wait they just came out of the closet. Never mind.

Watching Iowa State is like watching what Iowa would be with intelligent coaching.

Campbull knows the two cardinal rules of football:

1) Don't do stupid shit;

and

2) Playmakers make plays that win games.

Kurt violates both rules like a prison lifer violates a new fish

Anyone who'd bet on Iowa to beat ISU right now must really hate keeping their money

Their QB is good. He is going to be a pain to face the next 3 years. If by some miracle Montgomery and Butler come back for their senior year, they will have a legit shot to win the Big 12 next year.

He could get away with his offense 16 yrs ago because he was still fresh meat just getting going at Iowa. They all have caught up and adjusted and he hasn't evolved with the game.

Our only hope for beating ISU next season is based on 3 things:

1. Heacock taking a better job elsewhere. He has been the biggest key to their success in my opinion. Their defense has been very good with him and would take a big step back if he leaves. Plus their defense getting off the field quickly allows the offense to wear down the opposing defense.

2. Butler and Montgomery going pro. I actually think Butler leaving would be more helpful. We can usually shut down a good running back, but we get burned time and time again by really good receivers.

3. We have an offensive line that is one of the worst in the conference. Our offensive line has been horrid at run blocking this season. Jackson consistently gets beat or gets stupid penalties which you can't have from one of your tackles. Wirfs has been the only bright spot on the line. I'm really hoping we make a coaching change for the OL because it's been a glaring weakness the past few seasons.

Anybody else want to man up and admit that you find yourself enjoying watching State play? Can't be just me.

I can honestly say I haven't watched them outside of our game, but judging by their results I'd imagine they are far more enjoyable to watch than our trainwreck of a team.
