I just had a thought, is it possible

It's hilarious to me that probably the biggest game in the history of their program is only streaming online on the longhorn network.
Y'all don't get Longhorn Network in your cable package? I figured Mediacom would have bowed to them after that streaming snafu they had a few years ago.

I have directv. you only get longhorn network on DTV if you subscribe to this retarded tier of sports programming that includes the following juggernaut of channels:

  • The Outdoor Channel – channel 606. ...
  • beIN SPORT – channel 620. ...
  • Univision Deportes – channel 455. ...
  • TVG – channel 602. ...
  • ESPN Classic – channel 614. ...
  • MLB Network Strike Zone – channel 719. ...
  • The Outdoor Channel – channel 606. ...
  • beIN SPORT – channel 620.

Yeah no thanks

Yeah, prolly don't need that. I think they regionalize this stuff on U-Verse. On the slightly upgraded tier on U-Verse we get Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel and Longhorn Network. Outdoor Channel or Sportsman Channel has a show on called Modern Shooter. It is for guys who are tacticool so of course I like watching it. Last week they had some clown on there teaching people how to do draw and execute a double tap from their driver's seat of their car because "this is a pretty common situation where people need to pull and shoot."

I have no idea what the Nielsens were for that game. But I worked in the cable industry for a year and then I spent a year working for the Nielsen company.
Packages are now (and have been for years) hyper-fractured.
Satellite
Streaming (many choices from sling to Roku to Chromecast to xbox to appleTV, etc., and they all offer unique programming choices)
Cable
Over-the-air (still exists with modified platforms)
For example if you have Roku, the game in question was shown on ESPN as LHN has an agreement with them in the same way BTN has an agreement with FoxSports.
To put it in simple terms, whatever package mopkins is using to watch football likely represents less than 1% of the potential audience due to that specific package. This is true for every viewer not just mopkins.

Whats funny to me is that online streams have become so pervasive these cable companies are only hurting themselves in the long run. I just went to reddit cfbstreams and found an HD stream of the ISU game.

I have no idea why DTV or any other cable company wouldnt just offer a 1 day viewing of the longhorn network for like $5. Make the game almost a PPV. They're so tied up in the bureaucratic nonsense that theyre just alienating their customers

I think they rely on tying arrangements to force people into subscribing for all sorts of crap. So many channels wouldn't exist if it weren't for tying them to the package.

I said two years ago their coach is for real and now that ISU has decided to pay enough to keep him they may pass us by. Today’s rout over hapless Illinois is meaningless. We have yet to beat a quality team this year.

I agree. ISU sucks and can't be considered a quality win. The Big 12 has taken a nosedive and ISUs record is because of that.
Kansas, K-State, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma State are all worse than just a couple years ago. Texas has improved and Kicked ISU's ass. Oklahoma is good and can score. Defensively, they are horrible.

No, ISU is the 4th best team on Iowa's schedule. Penn St., Northwestern or Wisconsin would all beat ISU if they played them. Take away Montgomery like Iowa did, OU did, and Texas did tonight, and their offense isn't good.

And their wonder boy freshman QB is very lucky he has faced some of the very worst defensive teams in the country in his first few games.

As O'keefe said the cable companies want to bundle everything, which is true. The good news? Becuz of the WWW product consumption is trending towards a la carte. Youtube is a good example. If you want to watch a movie or increasingly a TV show you go there and pay whatever the copyright owner is asking. Most of the time it's under 5$ and the consumer cost is trending lower each year.

Futbol tho.

The Big 12 is mediocre. You'll see in the bowl season.

Northwestern was the best team we played all year, followed by Penn State and then Wisconsin.

I would rank Iowa State ahead of Purdue.

Sagarin ranks ISU ahead of Purdue, Wisky and Northwestern, but not Penn State. Sagarin ranks Iowa AHEAD of everyone except Penn State

Why would you replace me? My process has created a solid foundation for Bri to take the program to the top when I’m ready to leave at the end of my contract.

I still think it is funny that in what was arguably Moo U's biggest game ever, they were on what amounts to closed circuit TV.

Campbell did figure one thing out. All is takes is an average defense and you immediately pick up some additional wins in the "big" 12, as nobody else plays D.
