I have seen the future (I hope)

After watching that video again, Alexander kind of reminds me of Val Barnes on the offensive end of the court.

I sure would take another Val about now.

i personally dont think either of them fit the bill to be a PG in the big ten! Alexander has had some break-out games, such as 43pts in a one game and I think he has topped 30pts in a few other games. But other than scoring, he isn't that good! Williams is a good mid-major player, he averages something like 15pts a game and 8 assists a game. But neither of them have the skills to be a Big Ten PG. None of them can take over a game like Lucas (MSU), Hughes (wisky), Payne (Iowa)! Okay that last one was a joke, but neither of these guys come even close to any big ten PG

If I were lick, I would sit at the National JUCO tournament and watch for some players. I know there is a solid PG out of Tyler TX, he being looked at by several schools. I also heard of another out of (excuse my spelling) Coffeville KS I think. There better JUCO's out there than what is here in Iowa. I would just sit down there and find a player and offer them on the spot! I wouldn't just limit the scholly to someone in Iowa. I would find the best player down there and be all over them and offering non-stop! I think there are some solid players who could be an instant impact to Iowa next year!

82, no offense but I disagree with you on both Williams and Payne. Payne is a prototypical PG who played a solid true freshman season in the B10. Payne is not a game changer at this point in his career but not all good PG's are. Give him time and I think you will begin to see what I do in Cully.

With Williams we will just have to wait and see.

Lastly, I find your reasoning odd. In one sentence you dismiss Alexander because he isn't that good, he only had a few break out games. In another sentence you want our staff to scout a single tournament and make offers based off of what they see in one or two games. I find that odd.

There is some similarity there, but it looks like Alexander is a better handler and driver than Val.

Val will forever be remembered for going off in the last three minutes of the game at MSU after Chris Street died.

What is all the excitement about a couple of Division II junior college players?

The junior colleges mirror the NCAA. Division I has more scholarships and money available for recruiting. Division III is just like the NCAA, no athletic scholarships and very little, if any, recruiting.

The talent at the junior college level will be in Tyler for the Division I national championship.

I think Alexander would have a very hard time finishing at the rim in the Big Ten based on those clips. His defense from those clips was also not good. I am not saying he wouldn't help us at all but I don't think he brings what this team needs most; ball-handling, perimeter defense, and a slasher.

There are freshman that play in the Juco college tournament who are not academically ready for the jump. I would find a Freshman who is a solid player and then use tuckers scholarship for next year. I don't think any of these guys are ready for Big Ten basketball. I am sure there are several good players at the JUCO nationl tourny that will still need another year of JUCO. Find out who they are and recruit them as much as possible for next year! I don't want Lick to waste a scholarship on someone who is going to be just average and we are stuck with them for 3 years. I would rather recruit someone who is REALLY GOOD and only have them for 2 years.

Payne is a typical IOWA PG, he is not a typical BIG TEN guard. I heard a quote last night watching OSU vs ILLINI the announcer said, "Never jump pass, that is just asking for a Turnover." Well Culley does it a lot and I just don't think its a habit he can break. He was able to do it in high school, but in the Big Ten it gets picked off.

Understood. You were talking about making ties for future classes. Thanks for clarifying.

Gonna have to agree to disagree on Cully, I see a lot of great things ahead for him, I honestly do.

I'm excited about Williams because 1. I've seen him play in person and been very impressed, and 2. he played at Evansville last year, and led the Missouri Valley in assists as a true freshman.

Williams is not your typical JUCO player. He actually had success at a D1 school in the best mid-major conference in the country.

Might not have to worry about Williams, he has a Big 12 and Pac 10 school looking at him as of this week.
