I have been pretty quiet lately...time to speak out on Lil Debbie

Good to see you back around, loesshillshawk. I am in the same boat as you, live in the Omaha media umbrella, and have had the Nebraska Football Religion heaped upon me my entire life. I think your take on what they bring to this game is about right. These guys do and will play hard for Pelini. All these injuries and they are still winning. I think Nebraska would be foolish to give Bo the boot, so I wish it would happen, which makes me think it won't. I will not feel safe about this game if Iowa is up by 14 at the start of the 4th, which ain't too likely to be the case, anyway.
 
Hawks were hitting their stride last week....minus the turnovers.
Replicate it (and Mich is saltier on D), take care of the ball, and they will control the game
 
I absolutely hate nebraska. I will never forget channel 6 out of homoaha breaking into coverage of 9/11 attacks to announce frank solich's press conference was postponed, good times. Hope the hawks push it in on the bugeaters.
 
^In any normal, American city, such a thing wouldn't even be considered as necessary to do. Like I said, it's a religion to them.

Go talk to his players. Every good coach (and player) understands the difference between yelling at players, and degrading them. Players will tolerate yelling all day long and run through walls for you, if they believe you care about them. Plenty of Iowa coaches, including Ferentz, yell in practice. But only one saw significant attrition at his position.

I hate to pull the I know someone card...but I am pulling it out. My step brother is a sports agent for many past husker players, they sing a far different tune about Bo....more like he is a well fill in the blanks. Fact some love Bo but most do not....he is a disgrace to your university....dead man walking.

Ferentz exudes emotional maturity and he expects that from his staff. For a reference point think of Tom Osborne. From what I've gathered Kazt is a great fit for Bo's temperment.

Tom Osborne was obviously soft and so were his players. That's why they never had the success that Bo has had..
 
Good informative thread...that said, and know Hunter that I know you post "fairly" grounded posts for a Nebby fan, and are a pretty reasonable poster on HN, but my question is: why do you even post or spend time on on Hawkeye boards to begin with? Are we a team you relate with, despise or have friends that like the hawks, or went to school at both places? I guess Im only wondering, cause you're not a big-time "pot stirrer" and at least in this ia/neb series, you give an opposing fans viewpoint.

Btw, FWIW, Loesshills has referred to nebby as "little debby" for a long time on here. I too often wondered why.

Amazing. A classy guy like Solich gets fired and they keep the moron that can't control what comes out of his mouth. So much for the alleged "classy" Nebraska football program.
 
Been calling them "Debbie" ever since Callahan was hired. It's to remind them what an actual "D" looks like, since they haven't seen one on their field in so long.
 
Just wondering if 74Hunter is going to show up to tell us how Bo's players are circling the wagons for Bo, how Bo is really a good guy, WOW. The greatest thing about all this is they are keeping this guy. Little Debbie fans constantly bring up what great classy fans they have, what a classy, blue blood program they are, the world begins and stops in Lincoln. Now you have a school where you cannot hire anyone better then Little Bo Pelini. If you could he would be gone...there is no way to argue this...he is an embrassment on the sideline, he has ****** every sideline reporter on every network off, he is a camera magnet at every game, and this is from the classiest program in the B1G. I am beginning to think Texas was right about Nebraska. At least Bo is staying and the mediocrity that is Nebraska will remain. Just FYI, in the last 11 years Iowa has been to 4 BCS bowls, Little Debbie 0, Iowa has been ranked in top 10, Little Debbie 0, Iowa has the dean of B1G coaches and a classy guy on and off the field, Little Debbie not so much...GO HAWKS
 
Bo Pelini is a useful idiot who'll keep Lil Debbie football enmeshed in mediocrity for as long as he's coach. I no longer worry about Black Fridays in Lincoln or Iowa City. Iowa fans should not want him fired.

Dude, I'm here, not shy about it. The players did circle the wagons, too bad that they can't hold onto the football or figure out punt returns.

Those that hate Bo are going to point to that little tirade in the second (if I remember correctly) quarter. Quite frankly, those outbursts have been few and far between the past couple of years. I have no problem with what he did or said. That was a horrible call, the refs have been pretty terrible all year, and that was no exception. They deserved the butt chewing and the call out in the presser, but making contact with the ref was over the line. I just find if funny that Bo gets all this coverage for his act, but Saban, Urb, Muschamp, Kelly, etc. don't get any heat for their respective acts.

Is he a great coach? Not now. I think he really has to look deep into the program and change some things, strength and conditioning, practice habits, and recruiting just to name a few. From what I saw, Nebraska was the better football team, Iowa was the better COACHED team Friday.

I started visting here a while back, thought that there were some interesting characters and entertaining posts, so I just kept coming back. I don't post much, I'm not here to stir the pot, but I will call BS when I see BS. I don't have much interest in Iowa football other than they are a conference foe, so there is a reason why I don't make many comments on Iowa football.

I guess I'm trying to be a good ambassador for Nebraska football. There is a lot of misguided angst and misinformation about us, which gets pretty tired to hear. I was at the game Friday and spent time in the Haymarket after. I saw nothing but good behavior and class acts by both fan bases. Hawk fans were happy about the win, and from what I could see enjoyed their time.

From what you saw??? Did you even watch the game? Iowa has a better defense and that isn't even questionable. Nebraska might have a better offense, but the real blackshirts are in Iowa City.
 
I for one am not going to get on 74 or braska. I will say I respectively disagree if he thinks the better team lost this past friday.
Iowa played Iowa ball and come the second half braska could not hang and that pizzed bo off.
I really dont care how they run their program, I really dont care what generations of espn and other media has done to the thought process of their fans.
I will not even try and compare programs. I know as a program our kids take harder classes and get better grades.
I guess to me their is life other than football. Yes I want to win, and am thankful I got to go this past friday, but I really only care about braska one week a year.
I think I will just act like we have been here before.
