I am starting to think Lickliter actually had the right idea.....

I wonder how well Mr. Davis would do at Iowa if he was the coach right now. The non-conference schedule was always full of cupcakes. Now with more parity with mid-majors being better as a whole, would it be tougher to make the NCAA tourney year end and year out? I have no idea, just food for thought.

Very good point. TD did do okay in the B10. He usually had records at or above .500 but I don't have a clue with how he would do in today's CBB.

CBB is just so much different now that it was back then. Like you said, there is a lot of parity. I'm not sure mid-majors are that much better, I just think the big schools have been "dumbed down" by all the kids leaving early for the pros.

Right now the slow down offense would give us the best chance to win because we have that type of talent.

Looking at the big picture, Fran can succeed with his system when he gets HIS guys!!

As others have said, we have to give him time to bring his guys. Perhaps something like a top 25 recruiting class will help.

The words 'Lickliter' and 'right' should never again appear in the same sentence on a Hawkeye message board.

the success of top teams also have another important component to their success and that is constantly getting top 20 recruiting classes with a top 50 or top 100 player or two
ohh snap Fran just signed his 1st top 20 class,
next year he will sign a max of 2 players
and all of the nes with offers are ranked 3* or 4* with Jok being the main target as he is a instate kid
and until his knee problem was being promoted on ESPN as the next great player tp come out of Iowa
so we have all of this season and next to see who we get
in the 2014 class we have 4 offers out to 3 that are in the super 25 by espn and one from Iowa
#5 pt guard Tyus Jones out of Minnesota
#13 pf Cliff Alexander out of Chicago, Currie HS same school as FB recruit Flemming
#17 Paul White SF out of Simeon HS of Chicago

the other player i did not mention is Seth Bonifas a 6'9 14 year old soon to be a 15 year old sophamore pf
the heights of the previous three players pg 6'2, pf 6'9 and sf 6'8
not expecting all 3 but anyone of them would be a solid recruit and a potential McDonalds AA
the talent instate is getting better and the days of the top instate players of leaving will stop and the doors of Chicago may be opened again
