I am Screwed

I let my DVR fill up and lost the entire 2008 season. My wall had a fist sized hole in it shortly thereafter. I bandaged my hand and immediately went to Best Buy and bought an external hard drive. Most DVR units have a USB port and you can download the games directly into the hard drive I've got all the games from the past two seasons, and still have room for approximately 8 more seasons. IMO this is a better option than even burning them to DVD's. You can get an external hard drive for as little as $80-$90. I bought a 1 terabyte hard drive and spent about $180 but it's a small price to pay for 10 years of Hawkeye football.

I recently purchased an external drive for our camcorder vids. Do you know if DirecTv's DVR allows one to download onto an external hard drive?

Ok...I have to ask. I am a huge Hawk fan and make it a point to watch every game at home (can't watch with others, unless they are Hawk fans. They bug me too much) since I can't go to the games anymore. BUT, minus the bowl games (have the Orange Bowl on my phone), why do you want to RE-watch the games? Why do you have 3 years on a DVR? Once I know what happens...it's sorta boring for me. I will watch some of the big plays on Youtube once in a while, but other than that....I can't do it. Do you guys actually watch these games after recording them? Like more than once?

(BTW, this isn't a slight to those that do. I'm more curious than anything.)

ummmm....ever re-watch a movie or TV show?

pretty much the same thing

I have the same problem. I work 8p-4a every Saturday. So I'll be asleep during the 11oclock games, miss the fourth quarter of 2.30 games driving into work, and completely miss night games....Luckily I have a DVR though..

You'll miss the 4th quarter of 2:30 games because you work at 8? 2:30 games should be over roughly by 5:30-6 I should think.. You must have a horrendous commute?

But yep, that's what DVR's are for.

One weekend my wife and I went camping, and it was the weekend of the Iowa/Minnesota 55-0 beatdown in 2008, and there was a basketball game the same weekend. I had the DVR all set and ready to go, and my wife unplugged all the t.v. equipment without my knowledge, so as to "protect against possible lightning and power surges" while we were gone.. The result? The DVR did not start so nothing got recorded.

Thankfully there were replays on the BTN, though.
