defensive cordinator? I think we played good enoough to win on that side of the ball, incuding giving our players a pass on some key interceptions being dropped. Both young players that will make those plays in the future.

I think Norm will retire but I also think that the defense has NEVER been the problem. For 13 seasons Norm has covered KOK's but as best he can. The offenses inability to consistently score points or even move the football has been the overall problem with the program. Norm and the D have carried this program every year. And today the D played as well as they could given the complete ineptitude of the offense- even when the D stopped Nebby often.

As I said in the OP, THIS was NOT on the D. Just saw Norm up in the press box and got the sense that he was ready to move on.

+1! I believe this off season will provide plenty of talking points. Will Norm be one, id say still up in the air and no final call has been made.

1. The defense played pretty well today and has improved in the last few games, MSU nothwithstanding.

2. The defense was pretty horrible for most of the year.

3. Blaming KOK for our offensive shortcomings shows that you don't have the vaguest clue about how the Iowa football program is run.

I wouldn't touch this line. If Norm only coaches one more game, which I think he will then it's a push. I gamble to make money.

This kinda stuff just cracks me up...the camera focuses in on Norm up in the pressbox for 3.8 seconds and you somehow glean some profound insight into his innermost thoughts.

I've always comically looked at KOK running a pro-style offense is like when someone who has driven automatic transmissions for the majority of his life jumps behind the wheel of stick. It's not llke he won't be able to move the car at all. I mean he was taught/shown how to do it before. He would have good stretchs and others where he would stall it.

He is mind is made up of spread offense tendencies. And is shackeled inside a pro-offense.

Good thing is according to the W/L trends this year, we should win the bowl.

This analogy doesn't work when you consider he was terrific in the early 2000's. Watch a game from 2001 -04 and you'll see very good, aggressive play calling. For some reason he's gotten stale like the rest of the coaching staff.

I saw Norm get off bus today in Lincoln...the dude can barely move....can't walk on his own at all....it was super sad...it's time for him to hang it up.

If that is the case, then i agree- out to the pasture with him. just wish he could stay associated in some manor witth the team.

This

I saw the same thing earlier in the year when he came off the bus with the players. He looks extremely frail and was heavily using a walker. It is time for him to head off into retirement and focus on being healthy.
