I am disappointed in the Lick-Loveys

Who really cares what the coach looks like while he is coaching? So Crean is active while he coaches. Our coach spends half of the game with his head buried in his hands.

There is no universal coaching posture that is superior, so I don't know why we even discuss it. If there was, then every coach would sit on a chair, cross their arms, and have a bored smirk on their face like Phil Jackson when he coaches.

I think its clear there is more than one way to skin a cat. Maybe it has to do with your own personality and what you respond too- a guy like Phil Jackson I would enjoy playing for.

I think it does matter. Your style and demeanor exemplifies your coaching and teaching style.

For recruits this is very noticable and a big deal.

Same thing in other sports. Pete Carroll is noticed on the sideline. Ferentz's calm and caring demeanor is portrayed quite well.
As opposed to a guy like Dave Wannstedt who in all honesty lost his team a game this year with his sideline demeanor. He panicked. It showed.

For some it would be difficult to play for a guy like that. For others maybe it does not matter.

If I had to choose- I believe it matters. I couldn't play for an out of control panic attack like Crean.

If the pilot of the airplane is panicked.... so am I.

If he says it is going to be all right and calm...... I believe him.

Lick is able to recruit players like Hummel and Moore...he just doesn't.

Are you seriously making the argument that it is unfair to compare Lick to Painter because Lick doesn't have as good of players?

I'll rephrase that a little. It's hader to compare pure coaching ability when there is such a tremendous talent gap. I'm not saying that Lick is a better coach than Painter, because I think Painter is a tremendous coach. Now yes, recruiting is a large part of being a D1 head coach, but it has NOTHING to do with coaching ability. The same holds true for Ferentz. I think he is the best coach in the country, as far as developing his players and turning 1-and 2-star recruits into NFL starters. Is he the best recruiter? No, he's not. That makes it hard to compare him to say Jim Tressel or Urban Meyer, who may be just as good of coaches, they just do their job with more talent (I personally feel that Ferentz is better than Meyer, pretty even with Tressel).

So it's not UNFAIR to compare Lick and Painter, because recruiting is part of the job. But if what you're looking at is how well they COACH the game to their players, then it gets much tougher to compare them because of the talent gap.

we are turning the corner

AND

I think this game goes a long way in building confidence

I think

Lick did a great job today

I realize that this win was ugly,

However, I have more hope that Iowa will turn things around than I have IU will.

We actually have a coach on the sidelines with emotion and passion who I think wants to do things right.

10 wins on March 1st.

It's not what I had hoped for but I think it's getting better. Time will tell.

That's all I have to say, sorry I was late posting it.

Calm coaches never win. Look at Kirk Ferentz. That dude is always hyped up!!

Can Crean and Lickliter recruit? If they can, they will win. If they can't, they will continue losing.

Look at the players going to Ohio State, Michigan State and Purdue. Can we recruit at that level? That is the key, I think.

Too early to tell with Lickliter and Crean.

There was no reason for a "hater" to call our the Lick suppporters for not being vocal after that win.

The supporters that were being quiet just realized that it was a win vs. an even worse Indiana team.

The "haters" should have nothing to say because if you are such a hater that you cheer for Iowa to lose just for a coaching change... you just cant be considered a true fan.

Anytime you beat a big ten team by 15 is pretty good. I don't care where they sit in the standings, it's a hard thing to do. Especially for this team.

I think we already turned this corner when we beat Indiana earlier this season. If we keep turning the same corner I think we will just continue circling the same block.

Lick has a pretty calm demeanor on the bench usually. I don't like it when he buries his head or throws his hands up, but I think we have seen less of that as the season has gone on. I think he realized it could be demeaning to the players on the court. Nevertheless, in the game last night the announcers said Lick was purposefully taking it easy on the bench this year after the stint in his carotid artery earlier in the season. Maybe next year when Iowa is winning more games we will see more emotion out of Lick.
