Hubbard?

Hubbard was set to visit Nebraska this coming weekend. Tonight, the Huskers received a verbal from a juco guard.

That has to make our chances better for him. In addition to the Hawks, the remaining competition for his services is Iona, Penn State and Rutgers.

That helps with Glover too, unless Glover was the JUCO guard who gave his verbal? Well either way I would say we are the best school out of Iona, Penn State, and Rutgers.

It wasn't Glover. It was a guy named Dylan Talley from a juco in Texas.

As these rosters start to fill up, these guys will need to find a home. Cross your fingers.

Talley is a combo guard like Hubbard. Glover is a PG. It improves our chances for Hubbard but doesn't change much on the Glover front.

Glover is visiting UCLA this weekend. He is a Cali kid and Bruin fan so I'd imagine he would accept if offered. Just saying what was said by Scott Dochterman.

If we can land Glover/Miller, Hubbard, and Olaseni/Katenda, I'd feel pretty good about this class.

Talley is similar size and has similar stats to Hubbard. I couldn't see him going there too unless he just doesn't care about playing. I think Hubbard is taking all his visits for the experience and to see if any other school measures up to his IA trip.

Yeah, but I would hope Iowa doesn't have to settle for the last player left without a better offer.

TOS reporting Hubbard sets decision date, but I am not a paying member, so will have to find out when his d-day is.

A bit sobering that Nebraska and Doc Sadler land this kid and get an instant commit. Dillard is the recruiter for Hubbard, so let's hope the staff can close the deal. Note the last comment below (from Rivals) regarding Talley's visit to Lincoln. We need some Iowa City love from Hubbard.

Talley also had offers from LSU, Colorado, USC, Tennessee, Gonzaga, Seton Hall and a slew of other schools, but had said he was only interested in Nebraska and LSU.
Despite still having a visit to LSU schedule for this weekend, the Camden, N.J., native said he felt so good about his visit to Lincoln that he didn't want to waste any more time seeing other schools.

The more I think about it, the less optimistic I am about Hubbard to Iowa. Just don't know this guy needs the fishbowl that is IC with his background.

Have you read any of the comments by his juco coach? They didn't take Hubbard the first time around and he had to go to juco in Texas before the school in MD let him in. His juco coach is quoted mutiple times saying "great player, better person". He got into trouble when he was 17, he is now 25. He has had plenty of time to find trouble in his old hood if that is his goal. Granted, his past involves more than the DUI we are accustomed to seeing, but I am ok with giving the kid a chance if he signs.

My concern isn't that we should be concerned about him, but that he should be concerned about coming to the fishbowl that is IC. Also, at 25, this guy is playing for a college education and future career. Might be better to go somewhere where the job opportunities are a little more abundant.

Basketball wise, Iowa would be a great option. Just don't know if it is the right life choice.

Huh? I am pretty sure he is not intimidated by competing for PT with Ogelsby, May, McCabe and Marble at the 2-4 spot. I am not sure where he could go in the country and have less competiton for PT if the guy is a slasher / scorer as we currently have 0 players with that skill set.

Trying to interject your opinion into the kid's life choices is a bit spooky IMO. Pretty sure he wants to play ball, get an education and be a productive citizen, like I don't know, every other college student out there.

Who exactly do you want to fill out this class? All I ever see from you is the negatives about players and our recruiting.

Who do you want?
