------When I look at it objectively it's just not that talented.

Ok...then that means he cannot recruit. So fire him for that reason.

Who's the replacement then, genius?

I'm sure if you're that set on firing a coach you have a short list made up of available winners to put in his spot. You're a smart enough guy for that, right?

Oh, I see....another one of those"we can't possibly do better than what we already have" people, huh? LOSER mentality!!!

Problem is that Iowa NEVER knows when to cut bait....then what happens, is the cards will fall right (2015 Football) one season and the whole delay process starts back up again. If anyone thinks that Iowa football is totally on the mend with KF leading things, they are a fool.

^winner mentality. And completely flat out wrong as far as Frans ability to coach.

But tell us again how much smarter you are than Barta, Ferentz, and Fran again....

One of you four are absolutely a fool.

There isn't a program in the nation that would fire a coach for back to back 12-6 conference records. There are 5-10 schools that would be disappointed with that and maybe start getting restless. We are nowhere near one of those 5-10 schools right now.

Fire Fran? LOL, no. 3 straight tournament appearances after the crap we just went through with Lick.. I want to give the guy a chance to see if we can build on it these next few years, or if things tail off.

I suppose if you have a proven coach lined up who wants the job, then maybe you think about it, but I seriously doubt that's the case.

I love Fran. But if coach K wants to come here I'm down.

Still didn't answer his question. Who's the replacement? It's easy to call for the firing of a coach. It's quite another matter to get a replacement that is an upgrade... AND who is willing to give up his current gig. It's not always about the money. And what seems to be an upgrade on the surface may not be what it seems; we've had such an "upgrade" before in our history.

So in football, there isn't reason to be optimistic for next season at all even though the majority of the team that went 12-0 in the regular season is coming back? i'm sorry, what???? If you're convinced before Spring Practice has even begun that the next season is doomed, then why the heck do you watch them in the fall?

No one is happy with how the regular season ended, and the Illinois game was beyond frustrating. We're not the only fanbase with that problem though after all. Michigan somehow beat Indiana and god only knows how Nebraska beat Wisconsin. Crazy stuff happens in tournaments.

Saying that KF is/should be on a short leash after the best regular season in school history, and for Fran to be likewise on a short least after the best 2 year stretch in 30 years is ridiculous.

Hopefully the Hawks will get a good draw in the tournament, it should also help that we will play someone who isnt intimately familiar with us like our big10 opponents. Beyond this season, I have absolutely no idea what will happen next year with the roster turnover. I'm not going to say we're doomed before we even begin.

Good luck finding a really good coach who wants to come to a place that's hard to win at and who just fired a coach that finished tied for 3rd in conference 2 years in a row.

Fran was able to recruit what was considered at the time a solid duo from the Sioux City area and decided to rebuild the program around them. Who knows how much PT was promised in order to get them to Iowa City? Obviously a lot. Fran then appeared to do nothing to recruit talent equal to or better than what he had at those two positions. When your starting point guard and center turn out to be just OK, not elites, you wind up relying on other players and it becomes easier for other coaches to game plan around you. When things started getting tough in the second half of recent seasons, Fran had no options at center and point guard. Hence the late season swoons we've seen.

Iowa was hurt this year by poor recruiting and by late game management that Kirk Ferentz would appreciate.
I guess you don't follow recruiting. Fran was in big on Tyler Ulis. You don't consider him equal to or better than Gessel? Fran was trying to recruit good players, he just couldn't land them.
