Nebraska looked much better against Iowa this season than the last three, when Iowa blew it out. On this day, it was a last-second field goal. Does that mean the Huskers win next year? No. Is Nebraska more dangerous with Frost than it was with Mike Riley? Absolutely. And, again, a stud quarterback can make a huge different. The Huskers have that.
Martinez makes nebby. I'll give Frost credit for recruiting a stud and hitting a home run. He identified him pretty early and went all in. Frost can build an offense and seems to recruit high level.
If Frost builds the lines and defense, which he didn't at UCF, I'll be more concerned.
It's moot at this point, and maybe I'm off base, but if that fake fg scores, I think it was likely it might have ended up a 4 score victory. As it was, momentum shifted and Hawks tightened. This seemed to be a heavy momentum team all year.
I dont believe nebby was all that different of a team all year, they cleaned up some poorly timed penalties and turnovers from early on. But the offense with a healthy Martinez and their defense was pretty much the same throughout.
In my view, they were a 6 or 7 win team that made bad penaltues/mistakes and had bad bounces early, lost a game that Martinez was hurt.
When they win 8+ games next year, they will feel like they are a year away from 12-0, in reality, they'll be 1 or 2 wins better.
Just not ready to buy Frost as a great coach. A good coach and recruiter, absolutely. Players make coaches look great, and sometimes bad.
I think they'll be better. But this team was the same as last year, with a better qb.
Maybe I'm just blind with my disdain. I so badly want them to continue to struggle.
