How triggered will Iowa fans be when Nebraska's new coach humiliates us every year?

Finally someone who says what’s on his mind. Outstanding.

Sorry about the ice, there was plenty in IGL. Enough to drive a full size pickup out. Had a great three day trip with my kid and limited out all three days.

If I do fall through and croak, you’ll know it when you hear it on the news and I stop posting. I’ll do my best to save your wife, but since we’ll both be in the same shack I can’t make any promises.

Ended with a zinger!

He wasn't the dominant coach at Mich St that he is at Alabama. Often the setting has an affect how good the coach is. I was supporting your point about coaches failing at certain places.

Ah I see. Ya he is kind of a perfect example of a young coach trying to cut his teeth in the B1G. He had only a .592 win percentage. That is kind of hard to believe when you think of the success he has had since. I'm sure though that MSU isn't willing to cheat like Alabama is so that maybe the difference lol.

LOL

i'm thinking long term as an IOWA fan....

i want us to lose badly so we can get a new staff....

LEZ go NEBBY!

I think that when you have a team that was good enough to play in the conference championship game three seasons ago, the coach has shown he is still capable of getting the team to play at a top ten level. We were young last year and show a lot of promise. With all of that, anyone that says they want us to lose so we can get a new coaching staff is either trolling or stupid. Neither paints a pretty picture of you.

It's no shock to me that Iowegans are extremely familiar with this sound.

...becauase it's the sound the Central Nebraska Corneagle fans and teams have been making after playing Iowa the last 3 years??? Familiar with that sound yab...so...loooooootley.

People want Fran fired for having one bad season, but ferentz can have 7 bad seasons in a row? Btw he doesn't get credit for the undefeated season. Our #1 Qb had to threaten to go to another school so he could start and not be mocked by the coach. What a humbling experience for Kirk to see a kid win the first five games with his athleticism and then play the rest of the season injured otherwise we would look like a complete joke.

Next year is going to be good! Really excited to see if Frost can pat fitz us. Lol.

Keep trying, I'm sure there's somebody dumb enough on at least one of the Iowa sites to take the bait.

Good to see you over on the winning board my 74Hunter friend. Enjoy bantering with you about your Huskers. I do think honestly Nebraska and their fan base will get a slight up tick...in excitement for the program only. Scott is not the savior, and it is unfair of Nebraska fans to think he can return them to the glory years. That landscape is totally different now then it was then. Recruiting is different, the walk-on program is different (more later), you are not playing in the Big 8 with one maybe 2 quality opponents every year and the scholarship limits. The walk-on program will never be the same because those lower tier kids can get a full ride somewhere and not have to walk-on. Plus let's face it the 70's, 80's and 90's are not relevant to this generation. You are now playing higher quality opponents, it just isn't even remotely the same landscape...PERIOD. Scott is going to find out that his system will not work in the B1G...you can't build a team on his offense in this league. He cannot afford to go 3 and out and then give the ball up to a team that is going to line up and physically dominate you. Scott and his D coordinator build a defense around speed and an ability to defend spread teams. Will Scott adapt??? I mean you take his defense this year and they averaged giving up over 500 yards per game...and that was not to Wisconsin, Iowa, OSU, MSU, etc...he also did great at getting those kids from Florida to play for him. Can he get those same type kids to come to play in freezing weather, and live in a town that is considered a RURAL DUMP by Florida standards (I do like Lincoln, but Florida kids don't). It will be fun to watch...I just think the expectation does not match reality for Nebraska.

What's up, buddy. As normal, you have a well thought out post. Good to see you again.

I think there is more than a slight uptick in enthusiasm. This as united as I've seen the fan base since the mid 90's. I wouldn't be shocked to see the spring game attendance at over 85K this year.

Scott is not the savior, and it is unfair of Nebraska fans to think he can return them to the glory years.

You make a good point, it is unfair of the fan base to expect a return to that time. But those of us that are realistic don't expect that. Sure, we have the vocal minority asshats who wanted to fire Osborne prior to Jan 2, 1995 and they will expect the same of Frost.

Those guys suck, and I would have hoped that the last 15 years of less than stellar football would have tempered those expectations.

I absolutely agree.

Scott is going to find out that his system will not work in the B1G...you can't build a team on his offense in this league. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I think that the offense will be fine. Once he gets the program on track, it wouldn't shock me to see his offense average 40 points a game. I'm hoping that he tailors the offense more to a power run game between the tackles, but I don't know if he will.

I am pretty apprehensive about the defense. I'm hoping that he will be able to get better quality players in the front 7, so that we can match up better in the B1G. Hopefully that will make a difference. I like his emphasis on speed, but we've got to have the power and toughness to match up. It can be done, not sure that it will be done.

I do agree, we can't give up 500 yards per game and expect to compete for championships. Consistently playing in high scoring game is exciting, but not my idea of championship football.

he also did great at getting those kids from Florida to play for him. Can he get those same type kids to come to play in freezing weather, and live in a town that is considered a RURAL DUMP by Florida standards (I do like Lincoln, but Florida kids don't).

I believe that he has 4 Florida commits in our 2018 recruiting class (2 committed last night, as well as 2 from Mississippi and 1 from Georgia.

We won't get a ton of guys from there each year, and as his stint at UCF gets further away, those pipelines to FL may dry up.

But Nebraska (even more so than Iowa) has always had to recruit nationally.

Plus it looks like Nebraska has a pretty good group of high schoolers for the 2019 class. He needs to lock the borders down and keep those kids home. Iowa (for one) has gotten far too many good players from our state in the post-Osborne era. It didn't hurt so bad when we were in the Big 12, but it really hurts to have to deal with the Fants and Otts, etc for 3 or 4 years.

It will be fun to watch...I just think the expectation does not match reality for Nebraska.

It will be fun.....either for Nebraska fans or for those who don't like us.

IMO, the expectations for Nebraska going forward are to essentially replace Wisconsin as the big dog in the B1G West. Be in the top 20 (or better) most years. Get to Indy more often than not. Occasionally win the conference and be in the playoff discussion.

At the very least I expect that Frost will have us in contention for the B1G West annually, and that he will put an end to the ass kickings we've received from the Iowas, Minnesotas, Wisconsins, and Tennessees the past few years.

Anyway, thanks for the shout out, I hope all is well with you and yours!
