How quickly does this board forget

Very true and that's why the post positions are so important. You need skilled bigs that can turn and face the basket and score. Otherwise every night you banking on outside shooting which can be dicy on any given night.

Thus far Iowa has not shown on a consistent basis that explosive fast break that we had last year (mostly due to white) and we also have not looked terribly strong in the post positions defensively (make no mistake Gabe's shot blocking and shot altering will be missed).

Now a guy doesn't have to be huge to be good around the basket he just has to have quick feet. I say that with a couple of successful former Iowa players (Greg Stokes and Ed Horton) in mind. It would be great if someone steps up and brings that type of tenacity to the post position.

I completely agree with this. I think that is one of the biggest concerns skeptics have with this team. Its not necessarily whether or not the new guys can play, but I'm concerned about our front court. I'm not sold on Woodbury offensively or on the boards and I don't know who fills that void left by Gabe and White. Very surprised and big on Wagner at this point though, I absolutely love how he plays.

I reserve the right to be the steady and moderate voice that says all year that we'll be an NIT or a bubble team for the NCAAs.

I hope this isn't the case, because if it is I will be in melt down mode all season long. Am I the only one who things that a team that has 4 Sr. players with 1 being a top 50 kid, another a top 100 kid, and the best one was a top 125 kid should always be a NCAA tournament team? If you can't make the NCAA with that kind of experience, that is a failure in recruiting those next 3 years.

Last year wasn't the first time I've seen an Iowa team struggle a bit out of the gates, and get much better by the end of the season. I'm sure it won't be the last.
That's because if the coach could describe his program in one word it would be . . .

developmental?

Now, back to the football threads.
