How Many Wins Is Peter Jok Worth?

Uthoff gets the majority of the attention because of his versatility. Jok is getting his due now. I hate to isolate only a couple players from such a great team nucleus, but Jok is the perfect compliment to Uthoff and is thriving as Uthoff most likely gets the other teams best long athletic defender. How important is Jok's consistent 3 pt shooting for this Iowa team? It's huge and a hard guard for opposing teams.

I just luv watching that guy shoot the ball. So smooth.

So far he has been worth 19 wins.

Seroiusly though he has been the difference between us being just a NCAA team, and us being #1 seed good.

When you need a big basket, Peter says, "I got this", dude has been impressive as hell this year, so i would say a rather large majority of wins

He always shuts down runs with big shots. One thing's for sure, it cost us 1 win by him missing most of the end of the ISU game.

Jok's ability to score this year is miles ahead of previous years. He's no longer just a shooter

I've also been equally impressed by Clemmons. He has been a shut down defender and one heck of a scoring threat at times. He's basically doubled his points and assists from a year ago while keeping his turnovers roughly the same.

Does anyone know where the conference only scoring leaders are at? I tried to look it up but could only find the entire season.

Equally impressive if this. Not one Iowa player on it. Iowa is a team of plug-n-play players with a productive bench. They can plug players in and not have to change the style of play. That is huge and Iowa can keep players fairly fresh. This could play huge in the tournament.

That is what he was and i thought that was all he was going to be........Glad I was wrong.

That's a great find. Not a single Iowa player plays even 34 minutes a game? No wonder Iowa runs the floor constantly and does the 3/4 court press on teams. It has to wear them down

I think every great team has it's stars, and it's "glue" guys. For Iowa, Uthoff & Jok are the stars, and then guys like Gesell, Clemmons and Woodbury are the glue guys.

While Uthoff may still be our most well rounded player when you take into account his defense & shot blocking ability, I'm starting to think that Jok is our #1 scorer. Not to take away from his defense, because he's been coming up with some steals as well, but the guy is instant offense.

Iowa MVP at this point in the year: Clemmons, Gesell, Jok, Uthoff, Woodbury. In alphabetical order.

also take a peek at who is the leader at 3 pt. FG%.....

I know people get frustrated with what positions he plays, but his ability and experience to play in or out, will be what puts him in da league.

This is another reason I'm not worried about Iowa "peaking too early." Our guys will be fresh down the stretch.

We have 3 of top 8 three point shooters...percentage wise. And they have all taken plenty of shots. When has that happened half way through the season?

It's just awesome how everythings come together. Last years Jok with this team and what are we maybe the way to frame this question too. This years Jok is just such a better all around player. He's going to the hole getting layups drawing fouls making free throws etc. He's not just taking the first look he may get. One play I saw the other day he kinda mishandled a pass where if he'd have caught it cleanly he may have shot it. Well this was pretty subtle it wasn't an obvious bobble or anything he got it under control fairly quickly but if he'd have went up to shoot it probably would have thrown him off and he didn't do it. Getting a quick feel for the ball when catching and shooting is a bigger deal then one may think and if you don't catch it clean/grip it just right it'll throw you off. He's just become more patient and aggressive at that end at the same time.

Funny you say that because last game Uthoff did the same thing but he still shot it because he was wide open. He missed and I knew he was going to.
