How Many Players Go Pro?

Fant for sure. Hockenson, Hooker, Alaric Jackson, Anthony Nelson?? From Fant's interview, it sounded like Hooker and Jackson urged him to go pro. Will they follow? With all this talent leaving, will we be able to aim for our 8-4 ceiling next year, or should we be more conservative?

Hooker, Nelson and Jackson, I doubt it.

While the prior two are studs, no doubt, they won't have the measurables that Fant does to allow them to be drafted so high. Jackson might, but he had a pretty up and down year, and he eventually has first round potential, but could use some polish as well.

Wow, that would be quite a few underclassmen from one school. What about all the players from other conference schools, and nationally. They can't all get drafted where they're projected to. You also have the seniors in the mix. I hope the advisors aren't telling one hundred prospects that each and every one of them should go round one or two. That's only 64 spots. And they better not be guaranteeing anything in writing which I'm sure they're not, or can't.

Only 32 picks per round. After the first round things start to drop off pretty quickly...money wise. If you're not top 100 going pro early is pretty risky.

Hockenson will go. Too many awards not to. Strike while the iron is hottest. Wish it weren't that way, but I bet he goes too.
I fear this is the case as well, for my own sake anyways.

Though I still think he does have some to gain by staying one more year.

We did this exercise on the radio last Friday.

I had TJH and Hooker leaving, and A Nelson, Jackson and Stanley coming back.

I can’t see Nelson and especially Jackson leaving. I’m not sure Jackson would even get drafted.

Passing game's gonna suck next year. Sucked this year minus Hock. Would be nice if we had a mobile QB to add another dimension, but O'Keefe relieved us of that fantasy in his recent Q&A. I guess he didn't like what he saw from Brad Banks.

If you aren't a lock for the first 2 rounds I don't think you should go. The guaranteed money just isn't there. I don't think hooker falls into that category yet. Hockenson maybe. Thats about it.

There was "talk" by the hosts on the radio show on WMT 600 after the nebraska game that Jackson's suspensions may have been related to maybe missing class. So maybe he is just not a fan of school. He had some very good games and some not so good. I don't believe he was often in any PFF type weekly listings. One of the issues in Penn State game was 3 false starts by Jackson.

Most probably remember Sutton Smith. The much hyped Northern Illinois defender. Well he got 1st Team AP All American and it was two backups at Tackle that basically shut him down that day.

Any JUCO WRs out there we will jump on??

I hope he gets his head on straight. He was good for 1 false start or hold per game, but when he's on, hes a physical specimen.
