You would think it would piss Ferentz off to see a Wisconsin program he use to beat, pull even and now miles ahead of the Iowa program. Idk, maybe it doesn’t piss him off. That’s football I guess

Maybe, but I think this is a bit of a reach. Most linemen have knee issues off and on, and I don't recall either of the twins missing a substantial amount of time repetitively. They're both very laid back, almost to the point of being kind of goofy, which can be a hindrance to being competitive and focused, so perhaps Doyle tried but wasn't always getting that drive and intensity he requires. Good guys and good teammates, but never driven to be dominant football players.I gather that both Paulsen twins have had knee issues. They have both lost considerable time rehabbing them. Lost time for chronic injuries means missed development and conditioning.
I kind of wonder if they both have the same general issues, being identical twins. It's relatively common for people to have physiological issues with their knees. Some don't hold up to wear.
Shoot, then we lose our starting MLB,
10 years ago he was the best in the biz. Just like everything else in this program, others have caught or surpasses him. He’s still better than most, but the shine has faded
How would we have a star linebacker through nepotism if we lost Doyle? You morons want to play defense with 10 guys? Taylor was held to only 8.1 ypc, so Doyle is doing a helluva job.
I don't think Doyle is an issue.
The core issue is Kirk Ferentz's offense. He came up through the ranks as a system offensive line coach versed in zone blocking schemes, run first, play action, defensive minded ball control offense. He's a good coach that deserves much credit for carrying on the legacy that Hadden Fry established. He's a good coach with a solid program, not a great coach.
The bottom line is opponents that have good defenses have figured out how to stop Iowa's offense on pretty much a regular basis. Northwestern, Wisconsin and Penn State figured out how to beat Iowa a long time ago. They do so with regularity.
I've thought about this a little for a while. I think they are very high quality individuals, but I really wonder if they lack the attitude and aggression to make good linemen.Maybe, but I think this is a bit of a reach. You can see The Gophers coming in the rear view mirror. But their coach is an idiot I've heard. We will see if he can coach the Gophers past the Neolithic Kirkball Age. Big opportunity for Kirk/Brian/Nate this weekend. I'd trade our AD for Wisconsin's..

Wisconsin has the same recruiting advantages/disadvantages as Iowa
Wisconsin's population is almost double Iowa's and Wisconsin is the only game in town for recruiting. Plus, they have a good draw into eastern Minnesota.
