Lets say for the sake of arguement, all he did do was a little weed...fine.. whatever. If that was the case and he doesn't know any better than to go to the coaches and say, "I can't live in that house, I need to move. My roommate is doing illegal activities." I'm pretty sure they would've had him out of there so fast it would've made his head swim.

Let's get this straight. This isn't a little weed. There were pills, coke and a wad of $. This is pretty stupid for anyone...especially if you're a couple months away from making a lot of money. Just as I was getting past what everyone was saying about his personality and starting to feel bad for the way he was raised...this happens. What a joke!

I guess I consider myself fortunate in that such substances don't interest me in the least.
I've never even smoked pot just to try it. I do not sober up very well after drinking heavily. Percocet and Vicoden, your basic prescription medications for pain, give me nausea to the point that I can't get out of bed.
I can't imagine what some of this other stuff would do to me, much less when you start mixing things like pain with anti-anxiety and all as so many do.

wow. you guys are all talking about alcohol for the most part in this thread. I have some breaking news for you, alcohol isn't a controlled substance. So all of you on here have never been prescribed..oh..say.. pain medication of the non ibuprofen kind, and decided to keep taking it even though there wasn't much pain left? right. Anyone who has ever had pain meds who hasn't decided to keep taking it til it's gone even though the pain isn't there is either lying or in denial. Give me a break.
I tried some stuff in college beyond weed and liquor.
Barring drug testing, I would have done the same had I played on the team and had a chance at a decent chance of making the NFL.
Funny though, at the time I wouldn't have done steroids, because, you know, they will kill you like Lyle Alzedo and make you crazy. But I would now since they don't kill you and don't make you go crazy or any of the other stuff you THINK they do to you because that's what you "heard".

I can't stand people saying he made a mistake. In college you might make a mistake when you screw up on a math problem on a test and get it wrong. He made a decision. Im 23 years old and a college freshman. I spent the 4 years following high school in the Marine Corps where the drug policy is about as strict as you can get. I knew the consequences if I decided to use so I never did. Can't say I really had a desire. Those that made the decision to use and got caught paid dearly, just as DJK has been caught and will pay the consequences. I feel no sympathy, I'm sure few do.

Good for you, Bluzmn. My sobriety date is 11//5/1980. Nearly kiilled myself with all of the booze & dope & other stuff. I don't need to tell the story, you already know it. ODAAT, still after 30 years.

No dude, that was me. tweeterhawk swiped the O'Keefe 'tar when I converted to a Northwestern fan, so I went back to the last good basketball coach we had, Steven Todd Alford, a guy who knew a thing about discipline and keeping ballplayers in line and out of trouble.
FYI, I have forwarded this thread to the DEA in the hopes they eradicate you AQ supporting druggies.

Yes, VN would be Vietnam. But, we had it all over there, were as young as any college kid back in the States, the only difference being is I think we were a tighter knit group than college students. I came home an alcoholic in '68 and managed to finally quit in '71. To those who say alcohol is not a drug I can only say they have never been hooked on it. An alcoholic needs his booze just as bad as any addict needs his drugs.
It is till you reach 21. I was not 21. When I became an alcoholic, I was 19. They did try controlling alcohol, that's why we remember people like Al Capone. That is my argument against people who want to legalize marijuana and say it is no worse than alcohol. Why legalize pot just because alcohol is equally as bad?

I smoked a lot of dope, tried coke once (didn't care for it), dropped acid a couple times, and mushrooms a few times. And booze of course.
Hasn't had any long-term effects on me, or at least that's what the squirrel sitting on my shoulder tells me.
