How many interceptions does the Iowa D get this year?

My guess is 22 interceptions for the year which would be the most since 2008.

Some things to think about ...
1) This DL may have the best pass rush we have seen in years
2) This will be the tallest DL in school history (more tipped passes and QBs throwing balls with a higher trajectory)
3) This DL will be deep and will rotate fresh bodies
4) Experienced LB core
5) Inexperienced secondary that opposing OCs would like to exploit ... so more passes attempted.

For reference, Iowa Defensive Interceptions since 2001 ...
2016 - 9
2015 - 19
2014 - 13
2013 - 13
2012 - 10
2011 - 10
2010 - 19
2009 - 21
2008 - 23
2007 - 14
2006 - 14
2005 - 10
2004 - 17
2003 - 13
2002 - 20
2001 - 13

15 at most.

While some of your points are valid, our best three year run in terms of interceptions came when Sash was playing safety. Now he didn't pick off every one but his presence was a big factor. Our D lines on those teams were also better than this years IMO.

We only had 9 ints last year, and our safety play was a weakness. I see our safeties as a weaknesses this year as well.

You're forgetting about Gervase being an INT machine.

Though I love the pick as much as anyone I want to see some contested catches and batted down balls. I always hated seeing GB giving up so many easy catches with out being close to the play and 3-5 steps behind on a play.

18 - 7 by the LBs, 1 DLine, 10 by DBs.

Increased pressure by the front 4 allows the LBs to play kore coverage, and tipped balls fall into the LB depth.

We also usually see 1 INT by a DLineman a year.
