How far will Iowa drop in the AP/Coaches poll

Michigan was 21/25 in the polls?
In one week, they probably will be ranked 10.
Iowa will probably be 14, because of other B1G teams free falling (Wisconsin, Ohio State)

The B1G-hate by ESPN, will start commencing, soon.

Side note: Go to ESPN's college basketball front page and the headline is "They're Back."
ESPN is talking about UNC beating Clemson, a team that they have beaten the last 57 times.
In a related story, the Harlem Globetrotters beating the Washington Generals, mean that the Globetrotters are back.

I dont think the "B1G hate" really doesnt apply to basketball. As far as I have seen, ESPN is usually drooling over the basketball in this conference the last couple years.

I was thinking the same thing about the UNC game. Did everyone get fired up about Clemson because they beat Duke? Or are we supposed to be excited about North Carolina winning a home game against a team that is 60th in BPI, 77th in RPI, lost to Auburn and got drilled at home by Florida State? But IPA is right, the closest ESPN has come to B1G hate is saying the Big XII is a close second. They are in love with Big Ten basketball.

The answer should be no drop (in fact i think you should go up if you ask me)

AP- 11th, Okie State and Louisville will jump us but Wisky will fall behind us.

Coaches- 12th- Kansas and Okie State will jump us and Wisky will barely stay ahead of us.

I think MSU drops to 6th so the matchup tomorrow night will be 6 against 11/12.

The only wildcard that might knock Iowa down one more line is how far Michigan vaults up the rankings. I highly doubt they pass us in the coaches poll as they were 25th last week but they may jump us from the 21 spot in the AP poll.

Who cares about the Analog Parents poll, it's out of touch.

SDSU wins in OT @ Utah State? Really?

Utah ST goes 0-18 in the B1G and SDSU is top 10? See who flawed the Analog Parents poll is.

I got the impression the coaches poll is more volatile than the AP, so maybe Michigan and Kentucky stay a spot behind us in the AP but jump ahead of us in the coaches. By next Monday we could have it all back and then some.

I think the Top 15 will be as follows:

1. Arizona
2. Syracuse
3. Wichita St.
4. Florida
5. San Diego St.
6. Michigan State
7. Kansas
8. Villanova
9. Oklahoma St.
10. Louisville
11. Kentucky
12. Michigan
13. Iowa
14. Wisconsin
15. Cincinnati

Michigan is the flavor of the week so they will jump...but how far? They won by 8 at home against Iowa...not unexpected. They won a close game at MSU with MSU missing 40% of their starting line-up...not unexpected.

No one will care when or how things happen....and probably shouldn't. Injuries are a part of the game. The fact remains that Michigan just became the first B1G program since Iowa in 1987 and the first program, overall, since 2007, to beat 3 consecutive Top 10 teams. And they did it by beating 2 of them on the road in the 2 most difficult environments to play in college basketball. If it were me, I'd put them in the Top 10.

I'm not arguing your point on what the voters will do. Actually, I don't care as things change so much week to week. I was making the observation that these are not earth shattering wins IMO. The reality of the situation is the current Michigan State team is not a top 10 team...without the 2 starters.

I know you're not arguing and I'm attempting not to as well....but to suggest that going into Madison and East Lansing and coming out with 2 W's in the space of a week isn't "earth shattering", I'm not sure what is. I couldn't even tell you the last time that Iowa won at both East Lansing and Madison. You don't just do that in this day and age of B1G basketball. Not only did they do that, but they imposed their will on both teams and forced them both to play their game. If there are two teams in the conference that just don't get will of any kind imposed upon them, it's Wisky and MSU, but Michigan did it.

Hats off to them.

my best guess:

1. Arizona
2. Syracuse
3(a) Wichita State
3(b) Villanova
5. Florida
6. Mich State
7. SDSU
8. Louisville
9. Kansas
10. Cinci (only because ESPN has the Cinci v Louisville game this week)
11. Michigan
12. Kentucky
13. UMass
14. OK State
15. Iowa

I think the only 2 spots on this I'd have serious disagreements are Villanova and UMass. Villanova lost by 28 to Creighton, at home, and the score was closer than was indicative by the game, where at one point they trailed by 40. And UMass lost to Richmond. Other than that, can't find a whole lot to nitpick.
