How does Woodbury do against Zeller??

AW might be the best match up CZ has seen to this point this year. I wouldnt be surprised if Fran keeps A W in for the most minutes he's seen all year. I would think AW plays 30 minutes, 6 pts, 8 rebounds, and most importantly fouling out. CZ is held to 12 pts, and because of the battle in the paint, an off shooting day for Indiana equals an Iowa win.

Im not saying that doulble teaming CZ with 2 Zach McCabe type beefcakes hasn't been tried against Zeller yet this year, but when was the last time Zeller was guarded one on one with someone who is his physical attribute equal?

I anticipate Woody getting in foul trouble early and that will limit his minutes and effectiveness. Woody has the talent but I am afraid his inexperience is going to hurt him going up against Zeller.

But instead of yanking him when he gets fouls, this should be the game, if any, that you would want Woody to play long enough to actually foul out.

I do not think there is any way Woody can even get close to playing 30 minutes. I would be shocked if he even played 20 minutes.

Who knows how any of the freshmen are going to react to facing...you know, talent.

Honest question I was thinking about earlier this morning. Who is the toughest big man Iowa has had to face so far? VT, WSU, and ISU didn't really have tough big men to provide a challenge or prepare us for IU.

Woodbury is very solid and can develop but right now zeller is on another level. If woody can stay out of foul trouble and know how and when to help and not get pulled too far from the hoop and somewhat slow zeller's running then we should see a win for iowa. I am hoping he can he can at least stay out of foul trouble and play about 23 min then we will really have a punchers chance in the game.

Probably Seth Tuttle.

Fran is too smart to let this become a Zellar vs Woodbury game. That is a losing proposition for us.

I think Woody will do a solid job. Fran’s had a long time to get these guys ready, and Crean only has a couple days to prep for Iowa. We have a couple other guys to throw at Zeller so that particular matchup doesn’t concern me too much.

Duh, its Gabe

Fran will sit Woody as soon as he gets 2. To his credit, Woody has not had this happen to him in many games (at least really early). That is a core belief of Fran: sit players with 2 in the first half.
