How does Iowa's 2010 Recruiting Class Compare in the B10?

We haven't had anyone like Larson.
True boy from South Dakota not real quick, decent shot, tweener height wise...yeah we don't have anybody like him. Offers from Drake, Green Bay, Colorado State and Nebraska. Yeah we haven't seen any guys like this during Lick's tenure. Oh yeah ESPN scout on him says sneaky athletic that he uses to surprise opposing Bigs WHO DON"T RESPECT HIM. Stormin you know this kid is not what Iowa needs...great role player and contributor Lick has to get a signature recruit or his days are numbered.

You couldn't be more wrong on him. He's much more athletic than you are giving him credit for.

Lick got Larson really really early, those weren't the only schools in on Cody.

I doubt many people that are bad mouthing or talking up this recruiting class have any idea of the talent that they possess. For those of you that have seen our recruits play. This isn't about you. I haven't seen any of them and I don't have a clue if they are or are not what we need.

I would like us to support the recruits we have now. May wasn't a very great recruit in the minds of most sites. He has suprised most of us to the player he might become.

Not saying that I wouldn't be more excited about a top 10 recruiting class, but we can't write these guys off without seeing them play. We also can't expect them to take us to the sweet 16.

Try to keep the negativity away from players that haven't stepped on the court yet. I'm also not getting too excited about them being the savior of our program. I'm going to wait to see how things play out.

From the listings earlier in the post we are behind Ohio State, Michigan State, and Illinois for sure. Beyond those 3 teams only time will tell. One player can make a huge difference and hopefully one of our 4 can make an impact on our program.

It really doesn't matter until they play in college. However, I do like reading about the potential prospects, but can't stand people that automatically count them out as good college players because of our recent failures.

Scottie Pippen wasn't on his college team until he got to college. He faired pretty well. To clarify to people I'm not suggesting that we have a Scottie Pippen in our mix, but we should wait to see if they are terrible or good.

I really like Larson. He played hard in the games I saw him in and is much better prepared for DI ball than some others. Hopefully the latest incident whatever it might be will not be portent of things to come in Iowa City.

Brust is a guy who I am really interested in. I know some folks think he is a sleeper, while others think he is the product of fast paced system and relatively weak competition. I guess we will all find out.

Regarding the Larson issue, it is nothing that should be worried about. Absolutely love watching him play.

Regarding Brust, as much as people want to put stock in HS ball, you have to look at AAU. Lick had never seen him play a HS game till after he committed. He was recruited on the AAU circuit.

At first I was skeptical of Marble and thinking that he would possibly be redshirted. I think that he can provide valuable minutes at the 1, 2, or 3 next year if continues to improve as much as he has this past year.

McCabe is a winner. You cannot teach winning. He will do whatever he has to in order to get the job done.

Hey, I remember the how people spoke about the 2008 class as well. Especially about Gatens, Tucker, Fuller and Brommer class as well.
Jermain Davis gone
Anthony Tucker gone.
Bawinkel graduating nothing special
People want Brommer gone.
Gatens struggled pretty much all year.
Fuller is the prize right now of this class.

So I'm going to wait and see how much improvement we see and how this system fits the new players coming in. Quite honestly the players right now don't seem to enjoy the brand of ball they are playing. So if that is the case what changes?

Bobby Hanson said it perfectly during the Minnesota game. "These are the wrong players for this system" That is a pretty strong statement from Hanson..

May, Gatens, Cougill, Lickliter

HawkeyeBBall, I think you missed Ghost's point.

Look what having "winners" (May, Gatens, Cougill, Lickliter) gets you. a 10-21 record, so being a "winner" is not a physical skill that translates to the basketball court.

Now being good can make you a winner. However being a winner does not make you good.

I hate it when people say someone is a "winner" because it does not discuss a true quantifiable skill. It's just some BS people like to throw out there.

I don't care if a recruit has never won a League Championship as long as the player is a flat out baller and brings his game to the next level.
