This is from HR and obviously not all classes are complete yet.

And Illinois. Scout has Ohio State, Illinois and Michigan State, respectively, as the 2nd, 6th & 7th best recruiting classes in the country.

Illinois also was a clear winner in the early signing period.

Depends on what your thoughts are on Richmond.

IAJay, if I can boil down your post it's that the (Iowa) Emperor touting the rank of the incoming class -- and that's reason enough to keep the current coach -- is, essentially, wearing no clothes. Would that be correct?

If so, I would agree.

That is kind of what I was thinking as well. On the other site they say the rankings put Iowa in about 8th place, which just isn't going to get it done. To fix this program a top class was needed, and that is just not the class that is coming in. All of these guys have the potential to be good ball players, it's just that they seem to be the role player types who would fit in really well with an already established/talented team.

Seems like we're bringing in more of what we already have, which, as you point out, is not getting it done.

But make no mistake... these are the recruits Lickliter and his staff wanted and targeted.

These are the guys Lickliter thinks can get it done within his "system".

I just want everyone (on both sides) to take the "we didn't really have any top recruits/ we'll get better recruits next year" excuses out of their playbook now.

So you want to give Lick enough rope to either lasso cattle (wins) or hang himself in another year?

I really like Larson. He played hard in the games I saw him in and is much better prepared for DI ball than some others. Hopefully the latest incident whatever it might be will not be portent of things to come in Iowa City.

Brust is a guy who I am really interested in. I know some folks think he is a sleeper, while others think he is the product of fast paced system and relatively weak competition. I guess we will all find out.

Nope. If it were up to me, I've seen enough.

But it's not my call to make so Lickliter will likely get one more year. I will gladly eat my words should Lickliter turn it around next season.

Personally, I don't think this incoming class is the answer many think it will be. But it is the class Lickliter wanted. So everyone who thinks Lickliter should get a chance to coach this incoming class needs to commit to it now.

If this class doesn't result in the additional wins others think are going to happen next season I don't want to hear whining on the backside that negativity towards the program hurt the quality of recruits, or we don't have the talent to compete, or Lick doesn't have his players in place, or that we don't have a quality PG to fall back on should Payne get hurt, etc....

These are the guys Lickliter wanted. Next season the time for excuses is over.

Those of you who want Lickliter gone shouldn't be badmouthing this class, you should be hyping it up...that way if things don't improve as much as they could, it will look even worse and expedite the search for a new coach!

I also like how those who claim to be Iowa fans, do nothing but badmouth players who want to be Hawkeyes, whether they've seen them play or not...but then again, it doesn't stop them from hating the current crop and stating they don't deserve any awards either...

There's a huge difference between bad mouthing player (current and future) and being realistic about how good they are comparatively.

It's a fact Iowa has only 1 recruit listed in the Top 100 of any of the recruiting polls. Doesn't mean we don't like the rest of them, it just means they aren't as considered as good as at least 100-150 other recruits.

It's beyond logical to say a class boasting only 1 top 100 recruit (in only one of the polls) is a program changing entity yet that's what many on these boards would have us believe.

When we are losing the recruiting wars this badly to other B10 schools, we should not be surprised that the result on the floor isn't any different.

I'm not happy with them just wanting to be Hawkeyes, I want them to be successful Hawkeyes...
