How do advertisers here get my personal info?

I purchased a product online a couple of weeks ago and now everytime I am on this site two or three of their ads appear.

How does that work and how can I stop it?

Yes, when you visit websites, cookies are placed on your computer. then companies that serve ads see where you have been and send ads your way that might be more appealing to you...its called rebranding. This happens a lot on the web nowadays, and is not something this site specifically has in place, rather something a company like google does with their service. I bought a couple golf hats and had that store's ads displaying for me for weeks
