How did it start?

How did the echo chamber of Brian Ferentz as the next Offensive coordinator start? Who started it? and I ask why are people still grabbing a hold of it?

While I'm ranting here are a few more things that I want to mention because I missed Fetivus this year.

1) Bob Stoops is not going to come to Iowa. drop it.
2) Bret Belima is not going to come to Iowa. drop it.
3) They are not going to paint the water tower. drop it.
4) Nobody knows what the Troy Stross thread was about. drop it.

Agree on all points except #2. BB will come to Iowa if we make a legit run at him. That means a $4mil salary and top dollar for his coordinators. If Barta doesn't do this to save his own arse, the next AD will.

I agree, So who do you want. Urban Meyers is not coming either

Considering he has an opt out clause if something "comes along", I'd say there's a pretty good chance he comes to Iowa after next year.

There's only two things that stop this from happening, Kirk some how wins 10 games, or our AD is even more incompetent than we all thought.

When you say Bob Stoops isn't coming, do you mean because we won't offer him or he wouldn't want to? I think if we offered him today he would be here tomorrow. What else is there for him in Oklahoma?

When KF's agent, Neil Cornrich (i think he might be O'Brien's agent too) got O'Brien to leak an "interest" in Brian as Texans OL coach, everybody started to swoon---I still wonder how Brian is considered even a good OL coach? Reese got lesser talent to do more. Both tackles will be in the NFL next yr-including the Outland Winner and Iowa cannot run the ball?

Yep, we're just little ole Iowa. Nobody would come here, we better just accept things the way they are.

I think when Brian came in, and we also brought in an over the hill, nobody else wants OC, everyone assumed it was to be in here a few years until Brian took over those duties. Don't think it was one person, but many who just thought that was the absolutely only logical reason to bring in Derp Davis.

a chance to get fired.

It's looking like Ferentz and Stoops will have the interesting coincidence to have started and ended their current gigs in the same years.

My honest 2 cents how this plays out. Kirk gets one more year. The writing is on the wall. Iowa can take it's time to get its act together in searching for a replacement. I do think that target will be BB and I do think Iowa will have a legitimate shot to bring him here. Yes, it will cost money. Yes, he is in the fertile recruiting ground that is the SEC.

I think it only helps that the coaching regime is really becoming legit. Urban, Harbaugh, Franklin, Dantonio ... slowly, I think we might see the Big 10 start to get back a little of its swagger that has been lost the past 8 or so years.

We HAVE to rid of this little 'ol Iowa mindset. We have had 2 COACHES in the last 30 years or so. Iowa football CAN get better. We have the fans. We have the facilities. We have the TV contract. We have money. We have the conference name. Absolutely no reason why Iowa could not get a BB to come here. Of course, he would have to want to make the jump. If we continue to aim low ... well ... guess what ... that's what you become. Iowa just needs to shake this mindset of 'lil 'ol us.'

If anyone at the university, or in the state, had your mindset, negative mindset, no one would ever be successful. I think BB would come, and will be iowa's next head coach, and iv been saying this for a long time now. Also, I think next year is KF's last year. So I guess we'll see who's right and who's wrong.

the stross thread was about one thing...........awesomeness. to my knowledge it's the only thread to have hit the maximum number of posts allowed and shut it self down, because any more awesome might destroy the universe.

not even the "crapping your pants at work" thread came close to it.

The moon is way up there. We could never get to it, let alone put a man on it. So drop that too.

I am too lazy to go see what the Stross thread was about. Can somebody give me a quick summary.

I don't know who it will be but the 1st Freshman next year with a moped will be starting by mid season..

A better football program.

Been there done that for 16 years. If he had any desire at all to coach at iowa, which I'm pretty sure he does (or at least did), why would he not pursue that dream just for a chance to coach at a better program for 20 years instead of 16?

Bob Stoops loves winning more than he loves Iowa. His chances of competing at the highest level and winning are better at Oklahoma.

If Iowa's smart, they will go with an innovator who can create excitement in the program.

Add to that that BF came from the Pats and a coaching "genius". Three years ago when kfootball still had 8 years on his contract, it seemed obvious that BF was at Iowa for several reasons, one of which was to further his coaching career and dad was more than willing to help out. If BF wants to be a HC someday, then being an OC is a natural stepping stone. It make complete logical sense.
