How can we get Kirk to be better at clock managment

Should we send a blizzard of regular mail to the football offices with our observations and the remedies?

Should we bombard his wednesday carlos o kellys radio show with critical phone calls?

Should we bring signs to the game which I think is a good idea,

How about we all pitch in $5 to have a plane tow a banner above KF's head during the games?

Your ideas???

Its impossible. He thinks he is good at clock management. He isn't going to change after 20 years, and the chances of him becoming good at clock management are about as good as Stanley becoming accurate consistently.

are you referring to the 1st half when he had the three time outs we needed to get the field goal successfully or in the 2nd half when they made isu burn their two time outs and then the senior tight end ran out of bounds for no apparent reason which clearly upset the coach and clearly was not what was intended? which part of that was on ferentz? just wondering which part you took issue with. guessing you meant 2nd half one. i'll just repeat, the senior tight end ran out of bounds.

I was mainly talking about the end of the first half where a timeout with 53 seconds left and a 3rd and 3 would leave the team with about 48 seconds left after they got the first down. But instead they KF let the clock run and after that same play they had a first down with just 23 seconds left. That was about 25 seconds that could have been used to get the ball in the end zone instead of just a field goal. Then the hawks would have been ahead 10-7 instead of behind 7-6.

This is just not using your timeouts effectively to the detriment of your team and leaving unused plays out in the thin air.

As far as the last second half 3rd down pass to the short side of the field yes KF might have been mad but dont call a play like that and put the TEnd up against the sideline. If you are trying to throw for a first down then get your damn receiver past the first down marker instead of 5 yards short of the marker.

Or better yet do a run play that might bust it for a first down but at least leave the clock running so that ISU would get the ball back with about 47 seconds to play instead of 1 minutes 37 seconds. The hawks ran isu out of timeouts and another run play would have made it much tougher for them to gain 50-60 yards and get a FG.

I would have been happy with them just having a sense of urgency and hustling up to the line instead of huddling up and wasting 20 seconds.

I didnt like the decision to go into the half thinking play it safe, run the clock and a fg is good enough. Having said that, the staff has a better feel for the game than you or I do. Field conditions, playing on the road, ISU getting the ball to start the 2nd half, secondary thin....like I said, I dont think it was poor clock management, just not the way I would have done it. But I don't have as many wins as Coach Ferentz.

The end the game.....i was screaming at the tv that we cant be this stupid. I LOVE the decision to run a safe pass play but...the result is all that matters. We either threw it to the wrong kid or the wrong side of the field to keep him from accidentally going out of bounds. I like the call, but, it could have cost us the game. Better make sure the kid or the position on the field doesnt make you look foolish, cuz it did...even tho it was super cool that we didnt do the 3 dives into the line, punt and pray.

I do feel that 1 minute would have been long enough that they would have been attempting a game winning fg...so I liked the idea of passing on 3rd down..but it's a safe pass or keep it..and the kid has to know to stay in bounds. Throwing directly into the sideline made it tough on the kid, which left 1:37 on the clock and made it a substantially bad decision.
