Houston we have a problem: Wisconsin

Can you actually imagine KF doing this? Seriously?
Iowa - Michigan 2011. Best defensive performance of that season. A similar attack aimed at NW is possible. It is going to be nerve racking to say the least because we don't get hyper aggressive until we are in the redzone. On the brighter side we will be able to run the ball at them and at least keep TOP pretty equal.

Nevermind on Wisconsin. Ohio State is not going to lose two more times. Schedule too easy and B1G is not going to allow it. I want to see Iowa keep it close through halftime to see officiating kick it up a notch. I will take that as a moral victory.

They are very good and their close loss during a nite game at ASU goes to show how tough they are.

I am not convinced that we will be able to run against NW.

Are you on crack? Didn't they run for 350 on us last year?

Ummm...I'm not sure you have noticed, but our run defense has taken a huge step forward this year (8th in the country, I believe). It's not like MSU ran all over us, take out the yards the punter had on the fake, and they barely got a hundred yards on 35 or so carries. Comparing the team that took the field on defense last year to this defense is a bit moronic when you consider you have 6 games to measure progress under our belt and it's pretty clear, we have gotten much better. I like our chances to keep them under 350.

I miss Norm Parker.
/sigh

The thing that worries me is that Wisconsin seems to stop the run gm pretty good. If we have a hard time running the ball like we did last wk we are going to be in trouble.

I watched a considerable portion of the Wisky / NW game yesterday. Wisconsin is a very good football team. It will be a great match up, our run defense against their run offense. Their backs don't need alot of room and they seem to make the right cuts in all situations...it's very impressive. Stave will hurt you too...the guy stands in there and has a great arm. I know the B10 has gotten alot of crap for poor QB's but there are ton of young QBs in the league right now with very live arms...Hackenberg, Cook, Stave, Simeon, Sudfeld (Indiana)...and all are underclassmen with a few years or more to play.

Wisconsin gave the B10 the blueprint for beating NW. You have to send blitzes to force the quick throw and byou have to play press coverage with your corners and maybe one safety. Can our corners play that type of defense consistently? It's usually not what we do, but if you don't, they dink and dunk you down the field and completely gas your defense by the 3rd quarter. The game was over at halftime as Wisconsin wore them down and NW had punted 10 times by the end of the third...Wisconsin's defense got off the field early and they were rested in the second half. I know we can take away NW running game, but can we consistently put pressure on the QB...then keep him contained.

Will Phil Parker play aggressive against Northwestern? I think we have to if we are going to win. If we sit back back and keep everything in front of us like years past, its a blueprint for a loss. Their offense is designed to do what you are giving them (short passing game)...all you are doing is making it easier for them.

As much as our secondary has been burned this year, I'm not sure we want them playing a lot of man-2-man.

Teams needs a good defense to beat us, thats it. Our D will make your offense look great and the ST will do something stupid.

Wisconsin is a good team and had they not gotten shafted at ASU would be sniffing the Top 10.

Whoa bro! Pull back on the reigns. Had Wisky won at ASU, they'd still have the OSU loss. One loss in the eyes of the voters means barely sniffing top 25. Unless I missed something and we are now SEC?
