That's how the corporate world worksSounds to me like some people think the only prerequisite for OC job is to be an OC. So how does one ever get to be an OC in the first place?

No, you entirely missed the point.Sounds to me like some people think the only prerequisite for OC job is to be an OC. So how does one ever get to be an OC in the first place?
You missed the point entirely. I guess all of those folks you mentioned were given the jobs without any searches. Oh, and co-OC is not the same as being the sole OC.

I'm not sure you really understand how this all works. For instance when Paul Rhoads was hired for ISU he had his Oline coach within a few hours. He had worked with him, knew him, trusted him, and wanted him on his staff. That is the way these things are done. When you have someone you have worked with, like and trust they get hired.
Most cut their teeth at a lower level and work their way up. I wouldn't mind it if he had a QB,receiver, play calling background, but he doesn't. They need to hire 2 excellent coaches in those areas to hold his hand and it won't be easy finding people to come work for the coaches son, 33 years old who was handed the job.
That's a little different than handing the keys to the entire offense with no experience play calling or working with QB/receivers.
Scott Frost went from assistant coach to OC. Stoops, Beleima went from position coaches to DC at D1 programs, no Mac level required. The Clemson OC same thing. It happens, and it works lots of times. There isn't any guarantee that any OC will work out. Heck look at Tom Herman at ISU, he was run out of town. He killed it at Rice, did awful at ISU and then killed it at OSU after that.
Some can't look past the name. I could care less. I'd rather hire David Raih to OC from the Packers with no OC experience than hire a Greg Davis retread again......
As I stated before. You mentioned guys who became OCs of schools where the HC was not already offensively challenged. Spurrier was a Heisman QB and had an actual NFL career.
Wisky had a coach who was a lot like HF who developed a coaching tree.
Frost was a starting QB whose teams went 24 and 2 under his direction on offense. He won a NC as a QB.
Frost played under Tom Osborne, Bill Walsh, Jon Gruden, Bill Billichek, and Bill Parcells. He coached under Chip Kelly, Frank Solich, Mark Helfrich and Mark Farley.
KF has no real coaching tree.
You ask why some are afraid?
You also make an assumption the main problem was GD. The guy coached on the all time greats. He also coached Iowa's 2015 season.
Is this serious Gold, you are usually much smarter than this.
So when an offensive minded Bill Snyder hires a young DC with no DC experience ever in Bobby Stoops, that was a BAD HIRE. I mean do you think Bill had an "open application" process for his DC job? Or do you think it more likely that Bill knew that Bobby was an up and comer and wanted to hire him on the come before he could no longer get him as someone was gonna give that young kid his first stot. Same for Beliema, got his first DC shot under a offensive minded head coach. I mean with your logic, these young kids should only be getting shots as DC under a defensive minded head coach.
As I said, I would go with the younger up and coming coaches most of the time. Don't worry, KF I'm sure will hire some crusty old has been at QB, WR or RB coach.....that is what he does, and just like with Greg Davis I won't be on board with that.
You are beating a dead horse. I might be smarter most of the time. You keep riding the same ass as a race horse.
My point, I don't like KF. I've never fully liked him, but at times softened. I would like to see new blood into the program. That is all I have ever said, because that it the only point I am trying to make. My point is simply this happens all the time, and I stipulated what I am talking about. That assistant coaches who have worked for 7 years in the NFL or at a P5 school as an assistance coach get OC and DC jobs at P5 schools. This isn't unprecedented.
THAT HAS BEEN MY ONLY FREAKING POINT GOLD, AND FOR SOME REASON I HAVE TO SCREAM IT AT YOU LIKE 1000 TIME BEFORE YOU SEEM TO BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND IT.
What the **** exactly is your point Gold? You have been moving the target from no playoff team would do this (until I pointed one out), to these OC hires are only by offensive minded coaches (until I pointed out DC hires by offensive minded coaches). What is your point, besides you don't like me? I already know that, so that point it already taken.

If you go back an look, you are much tamer now than in the past. You used to jump on me with both feet. You don't like being kicked back.
Btw, the wife agrees about my listening skills.
Dude, I have fought wayyyyyy tougher than you.......(Strictly talking HN internet stuff obviously). You really aren't even a blip on the map compared to the Cave days when I had to battle most of the Dirty 30 single handedly.
I find you pretty harmless really, cute as a matter of fact. Anymore I don't find the need to battle constantly with my fellow Hawk fans when opinions vary. I much rather bash on the obvious trolls and over the top idiots (which you are not at all).
