Hosed on tickets

I don't get it. Nearly 500 priority points, 4 season tickets since 1978ish and we get granted two tickets when we requested four.

Sorry to the folks that I said I might have two extra.

Luckily my Dad's dental alum buddy is getting the two we got through my brother working at Stanford.

According to an email that was sent, it mentioned that whatever your allotment was for season tickets was going to be halved for the Rose Bowl.

Are they a good location at least? Maybe you could sell and then buy 4 nosebleeds in the endzone??

I don't need them, we are covered, but I just find it gay that with 40+ years of being a season ticket holder with nearly 500 priority points and they hand us the bone to suck the marrow out of.

I thought they were smart to limit how many tickets they gave to any one order in order to accommodate as many fans as possible. Don't feel that sorry for you that you were unable to get extra tickets for the express purpose of making a profit.

Soooo you don't need them... and you started this thread just to tell people how ****** you are that you ONLY got exactly the number you needed, and not enough to turn around and scalp to other gold-blooded hawk fans? Nope. No sympathies here, friend.

I think you guys are confused.

My Dad has had 4 tickets in-conjunction with his sister and her husband since the late 70's. At one time there were 6 tickets, when my brothers and I were little to go to the games. My dad went to undergrad and dental school there, a friend of his who retired and moved away from Iowa City to North Carolina asked my Dad to request a ticket for him and his wife, they did. I called about 15 minutes later and told my Dad we need to go. They logged back in and requested the remaining 2.

Another thread said that silver and gold hawk members would be granted the same amount of tickets for the game as season tickets held, in this case 4. This was taken verbatim from the U of I athletic office website.

We had my brother who works at Stanford get us two tickets just in case, we weren't sure we we'd get the second request for Iowa tickets or the Stanford tickets, we happened to get just the Stanford ones.

Now, what if my dad wanted to go with me, or my mom and my aunt and uncle wanted to go too? The University reneged on it's own statement and stiffed a 40 year+ season ticket holder with almost 500 priority points out of half their allotment.

Seems pretty simple, the request for 2 tickets was fulfilled, and they either didn't, or couldn't fill then another request for the additional 2. It sucks, but I'm guessing if you didn't do the request like that and instead requested 4 to begin with, you would have received 4.

I don't think they screwed you at all. I think that the university was swamped with 53,000 request and they were trying to get everything organized in a week. They simply didn't have the time or man power I imagine to fix your mistaken request.

We got 2 and needed 3. If anyone who has 3 and only needs 2 is willing to do an exchange, let me know.

You sound like a breastfed, "entitled" trust fund baby with a silver spoon in his mouth. I'm glad you finally had a little discomfort in your life.

Oh, and when go head out for Pasadena, please leave your pastel frat-boy polo and boat shoes back here at home. We don't want the rest of the world thinking you're what actual Hawkeye fans are like.

No, I think we understand just fine.

You are obviously riding the coat-tails of your daddy's priority points and, like the entitled, silver-spoon, born-on-third-base-and-think-you-hit-a-triple guy you are, you are crying and whining that you only get 2 Rose Bowl tickets instead of 4 on your daddy's 500 priority points.....all the while there are plenty of other "regular Joe" Hawk fans, who aren't quite so privileged and entitled , that can't afford to go at all.

Peddle your silver spoon somewhere else....none of us here are buying.

Yep, the University viewed it as a request for 2 tickets and then another request for 2 additional. Had the original request been for 4 tickets it would have been fulfilled.

Looks like the University wanted to get as many season ticket holders out to the game as possible, and they succeeded.

The ticket office has been much maligned in the past, but this time they went above and beyond. They should be applauded, not criticized.

I will give you more credit than the rest on this board. You explained what happened perfectly. Now we all know that you are exactly what everyone else on this board has already described. You are someone who is complaining about not having enough tickets that you never earned to begin with. Even though your dad didn't apply for them properly and you got exactly what you should have, somehow you were still hosed. Most people like you would have lied through their teeth when describing what went down so they looked better.

And by the way, the real answer of what should have happened if your dad wanted to go is clear. He would have been the one that got the tickets and you would have been watching from home. After all, he actually earned his tickets.

My family has been buying season tickets since 1924 (several generations; all Iowa grads). I currently buy eight season tickets. I was granted 2 Rose Bowl tickets and I was very happy to get them. You need to quit whining. You were treated fairly.

Dude creates a new account to do nothing but whine about how his entitled-self doesn't get his way. Take your first world problems and slurs elsewhere...

Hopefully you're able to sleep at night with such a massive black cloud looming over your life.
